why is ryko reminding me of chiz ? lol
why is ryko reminding me of chiz ? lol
Because with him gone you need someone else from fairy to have a vendetta against and who better than the guy you believe got you banned in the first place? Or maybe because I reminded you of the argument where you whined about how much your thief sucked and needed to sub white mage so they werent a burden as opposed to an actual asset until you picked up a 150mill justification for it like a damn tool. Chiz was a fucking retard but at least he wasn't a lazy sack. Fuck if I know, pick one.
Ryko, since you quit and returned, you've seemed angrier and confrontational.
Do you need a hug?
no, youre reminding me of chiz because you're acting like your shit smell like roses.
"my ls been using melee for 3 years, we know what you knew today back then, were the best, I'm a god".
your ego should sign up for a forum account too.
It's probably because I post less in the advanced section than before I took that hiatus so when I do now it seems out of the blue as opposed to just always that way. I've always been argumentative though.
Yeah because when I actually cited people I read up on, any of them were in my shell. I did mention stuff I had been doing for years and hey, fine, it can be construed as being full of myself, but in this case it was definitely to state that not everyone was living in earl, JP-mentality ruled stereotypical 2005. Context, spanky, don't just partially read what you want to then say I'm self-absorbed. While it's true that I can be, none of what I posted remotely hinged on me or anyone I play with personally on a regular basis. As for my ego making an account, it got banned for being a duplicate IPOriginally Posted by Nynja

Nynja, he was stating it as an example/evidence of why he felt the way he did, the same thing anyone does to help prove a point, and what he said is perfectly true too... I remember first seeing Ryko's posts and gear for his jobs years ago, and he's always been equiping himself well, even when it was against what most people thought was "best" at the time. And believe it or not with him being an LS leader, his gear decisions influence a lot of the other people around him.
I understand, sorry for jumping to conclusions then as I misunderstood your motivation/reasoning. But I know exactly what you mean when it comes to the whole yes man thing, and as I mentioned briefly in that post I admit I don't like it but at the same time there's little I can do to prevent it. I've just been trying to ignore it lately, as I feel kind of bad about it. D:Originally Posted by Ryko
I don't doubt it at all but the thing is, at that time people didn't know or believe they were the right answers. I'm not doubting how long a lot of the information has been present in this game nor anyone's knowledge of who discovered/publisized what at all. As I said my focus in this argument was about the FF population as a whole advancing as the majority of the players start listening to the right people, testing equipment choices to make proper decisions, trying new things that end up being more effective, etc. And this advancement was rather slow in the long run.Originally Posted by Ryko
I'm not sure if I was unclear but I think we're on the same page in that regard. I do feel the people who took steps to figure things out should be regarded and acknowledged, and not cast aside. I take every chance I can on NIN/DRK topics where people seem to credit me as the 'inventor' to correct them and give credit where credit is due... However, in the context of this topic I just didn't feel the focus of the argument would be properly placed on 'who did it first' as opposed to 'when did people finally listen and put it into effect?' Since this is mostly about how gameplay as a whole has advanced in respect to how an average melees equipment choices/strategy/performance has evolved.Originally Posted by Ryko
Don't feel you have to apologize at all lol, my tone was off-hand too. And in the end it was mostly just me misunderstanding your post for the most part. It happens, and I still hold a lot of respect for you and everything you've done all the same, regardless of any disagreements we have.Originally Posted by Ryko
Answering the question above of when people realized that melees > BLM zergatory, I think the biggest change was when the BLM nerf patch came in. True, some LS's were doing semi TP burns, or having a fair mix of both, but when that patch hit, I did notice a lot of people try to TP things down and such, and it actually worked!
It's kinda unfair though imo that when melees zerg something down (with less mindyou) they get no penalty, yet when BLM did that we got a nerf patch multiple times (hi aerns no more chain300, hi magic dmg reduction etc).
Don't listen to Wafik, melee supremacy forevar! I hear he doesn't even have black mage levelled!
I always thought that Aern summon nerf was kind of silly, it was hardly game breaking at all yet they fixed it almost right away. Meanwhile all the important stuff remains unfixed as BLMs curse SE for ruining what was nothing more than an easy way to get high chains.
Btw, I just love this thread and it's inevitable ability to go from post relics > relic utility arguments > whole bunch of unrelated other stuff at least once every 1-3 months.
No sarcasm! It gets more amusing each time.
At the rate of how many times a month I'm allowed to play my BLM to events, that might be the next job I remove from my sig![]()
I've been telling Syl that for all her jobs (especially BLM) since getting relic horn. But she still resists.![]()

Relic horn such a curse;
Celebrity Weapon-Relic holders before they got Relics, in endgame:
chiz: not touching a HNM with melee
nynja: thf/whm TH whoring
rukenshin: nin/drk tanking with mostly mage damage
aurik: manaburn
wafik: manaburn
every other thf: hopefully not doing anything endgame with their lack of warrior SJ
That's a pretty loose metric lol. FYI, I had relic before hitting 75 blm. I mostly leveled the job to participate better in the Manaburn dynamis I was already co-leading at that point. Even once I hit 75 blm I came as mnk about 30% of the time.
edit: including doing half of our Tavnazia runs as mnk.
....Is Penance based on the original TP given or what comes out after Subtle Blow?
...been buggin me all week.
I remember when Aurik first started coming to Manaburn, he was MNK/WHM and just cruised around making pretty maps and curing/raising dumb BLMs like me. Good times! :D
After. With full SB + penance, TP gain is reduced to 37.5% of normal.
