For not gimping yourself, there is a world of difference between self-funded and ls relics.

Do you own a relic weapon? If not then shut the fuck up. People getting so butt hurt cause someone "gimped" themselves for a relic. They have a relic weapon now they can upgrade whatever just fine. If they upgraded a relic I'm sure they can find the means to buy a few million pieces worth of gear.

I think I ended up spending around 500mil on mine and took about a year, but back then it wasn't so hard to make a few mil a week. I sold all my gear to finish, and then decreased my play time to a few hours a week/month. I don't even have a temp torque 0/15 or something lol, pcc, haidate, swift belt etc... I finished relic to finish relic, I'm also probably the gimpest relic holder all together too, but I have all my merits so who cares.

Way to read..... anyway you don't have to sell gear to make 2 mil a week even in this economy. It just takes time. Even if it gets down to what I did for 4hrs+ a day to get mine done. Codex's are cheap speed belts and people will pay nearly 100k for them. Shout, Bazaar them in rolanberry 24/7, and shout some more. Plan LS belt runs and supply the codex's to people. People are lazy as shit and wont farm them on their own. Once you tell them you have a codex they can buy the day of the run, they will be more than happy to pay.

In short, Farm, Craft, BCNM, ENM, ISNM, Every day/week. There is no reason you can't make enough gil to fund a relic on your own without having to have it LS sponsored.

Amen. People are so lazy now they've either forgotten how to make money or are just too damn lazy.

I farmed soooooo many damn codexs for a long time (up until my second dusk hq) I'd bet the majority of the gil I farmed was from them and I was there so often I got it down to a science. Nearly always had crap in my bazaar and pretty much left my comp on 24/7 and bazaar when I was away or sleeping, always had a codex up.
Of course the 2 dusk gloves+1 among other things like blessed pumps+1 and sniper rings+1 helped a lot. I still farmed a damn lot though and if I had a day free I could spend it farming as a thf/bst and pull in over 1m if my spot wasn't crowded.

I can't claim my relic was totally self funded in the sense a friend gave me 7m and in last few months I was sponsoring my ls dynamis runs, but I would have finished either way. Relics are more about patience than anything now days I believe and receiving help just lessens your wait.

Pity codexs blow on my server now, I won't be going back there to fund a second relic f I ever feel like one... However, there are still plenty of ways to make gil if you have the time and patience, and every server has plenty of different ways to produce gil.

I have enough gil to buy a pcc and hauberk +1, but I just like crafting it away to get back a nice 10-50% return every week. Maybe I'll get a new relic some day but crafting is pretty fun, hell I even enjoy farming lol. I just don't have time for ls events besides helping people camp misc nms and fight wsnms. I think next goal is a k-club for my ranger lol.

I made massive amounts of gil from crafting RR items, for a long time I had around 50-70 on AH each day, selling around 10-20 with up to 30-40 on weekends. That and antlion traps. I still craft antlion traps and easy stuff like horn ring+1's. I've kept away from SH's and cursed gear, simply because expected profit is less than 0.

Yes, and I do have guttler, had it for about a year. It is what it is, I wouldn't recomend upgrading it, but at the time no one knew anything about it. With my play time it's the only relic I would have any use for anyway so I don't think it was such a bad idea for me.
