Generally a relic is one of the things people go for after already nearing the tip top in other gear, sometimes you get the guy who just saved up currency and scrounged around and got one first, but then you see people who have lots of the right gear, and then baffling pieces like the Bushi or Abyss Gauntlets.

Have to agree with this, we are not saying "man this guy doesnt have all white boxes and blows". We are taking a look at gear that requires no financial burden to replace, but rather displays a misunderstanding of basic job mechanics. Thus you get alot of back lash on this forum, as it kind of spits in the face of what relic is "supposed" to represet, as your AF title used to say "Paragon of Dark Night Excellence", I dont think that SS even lives up to that title. Relic should echo this job mastery, a final completion of a long and arduous goal, a display of true skill and job knowledge with the ultimate tool for your job at your hands.

To crap on all that and not expect a few harsh words is a bit niave and offensive.

I really don't get why people bitch because someone with a relic doesn't have all the right gear. Should we do this in the inverse manner? If someone has a lot of gil, and HQ's and no relic should we say that he's a gimp?

I don't care if someone has the best gear or not to go along with his relic, but the point is that the two horrible pieces on his gear-set are both easily replaceable with ridiculously cheap items on the Auction House, nevermind a huge variety of Rare/EX pieces that are a million times easier to get (for instance, I'd rather see him use Adaman hands than that - as gay as Adaman hands are) than an Apocalypse.

Sure, he doesn't have Homam legs but for all I know he could be 0/100 on the drop and be first in line, but the fact that he's using a Bushi and Abyss Gauntlets is such a painfully disgusting fact that he deserves the ridicule.

Also, the Bushi thing could be slightly understandable before they added the ability to change the item, but holy fuck . . .

As someone mentioned before, if you can fund a relic, you can seriously afford better eq, so why not? also dm is really not that hard to put together, i did again the other day with a random shout alliance ffs.
