Pretty sure I've never seen Pent with a HQ Haubergeon, FWIW.

He has 3 or 4 other 75s that are quite well geared (not impeccable, but very solid), so I don't think he gimped himself for a relic.

Is it possible he funded it entirely himself? Yes. And if so this is me issuing a huge fucking apology, but the fact is it's very unlikely, in which case my point about this being ridiculous is still valid.

Per his post on KI, a large portion of the funds came from the donation of a player that was quitting.

Just to reinterate this entire thread in 1 post.

Having an upgraded relic alone means NADA, NOTHING, ZILTCH. Congrats on the accomplishment nevertheless but it doesn't automatically make you a good player. I have seen complete retards running around on my server with relic's that didn't build their merits around their relic and use alot of "questionable" gear set ups for their relics.

A lot more idiots running around with a haub +1 then a relic. Hell, the haub vs haub +1 won't even show up on a parser. Full HQ cursed gear will generally give you less of an increase in ability than a relic in a price/performance ratio.

For your standard nin/war/bst/drk/sam etc... the only gear that really matters is (in no real order):

1. Haub
2. Shura/Hecatomb for ws
3. spec/pcc/torque
4. life/swift/speed (depending on what your fighting/setup)
5. sniper's or something like that
6. dusk gloves
7. Byakko's Haidate
8. Weapons that don't suck

All the rest is situational and won't change your results much with the exception of storeTP setups. Once you have 1-8 you might as well get relic since the rest doesn't really matter. If you have the free time to sit in frount of a screen for 3 hours waiting for a chance to get a stupid dragon, then sure you could add ridill to the list, but hell I hate camping despot so I lack 7. I know it would be the best item for my relic ws, but fuck if I'm going to spend my free time bored as shit.

Honestly you sould like you have some sand somewhere because either you don't have a relic and are trying to compensate, or you do have a relic and need to feel more special about yourself. In the end you need to just breath deeply and learn it doesn't matter what someone equiped on some server somewhere else.

A relic is harder to obtain, but why do they need to obtain a series of minor HQs when the gains are less than appreciable. Regardless, this thread is about people who have just finished relics, so if you really mean to bitch about it make a thread.

stick to not making real life analogies. work boots and a suit is wrong. NQ Haub isn't wrong. a proper analogy would be Dockers dress shoes instead of John Varvatos. neither is blatantly wrong, but you wouldn't expect someone with an Armani to have shoes under $100.
