You know, if you can only do the "quest" once I'd almost be tempted to say that dropping Walahra turban is worse than dropping Kikoku.

Pxtzle's 7th total relic (not LS funded). The taru behind him is his main character and you'll be seeing a well known relic from him within the next week or two.![]()

Woah didn't even realize you could actually throw Smart Grenade figured they had altered it like they did with seashell, tiphia, and sachets. Anyways, congrats! :DOriginally Posted by kareface
2 Hedgehog bombs, 3 bomb cores (one of them on loan to a friend), and 12-15 fenrir stones later. Even with the ranged macros taken off, I still managed to toss everything that can be tossed.Originally Posted by Rafike

Getting the GK:
I'm the 3rd amano in the shell, we'll have to need an e-pween dual at mamool ja SP. 11th relic out of 21 members.

TP Gear (/war):
I've been testing out the sword strap with good results. I wouldn't use it solo, but stacked with spell haste it's very nice. As long as I don't use an abil during TP build with 2 marches and haste I can get 1 extra attack round in before the STP bonus wears off from the WS. But I was tanking most of last night so it didn't matter as much.![]()

WS gear (/war):
110 dex w/o using dex rings, or earrings, or food, or anything silly like that. Just good old taru dex, and I prefer to not use alkys and Byrnie +1. With /war I manage to get a solid amount of crit WS's, very happy with the build so far.

Kaiten:
Had to get a smaller mob because yagudo are too big![]()
lol @ the 3rd image, can't even see the taru behind the flare.

Not 56K safe, but I'm sure no one will care once we are on the next page. Had a dumb grin on my face all night, tons of fun and worth every montiont. Going to wait on a 3rd relic till after they release the newer ones and adjust the current ones, thinking of doing mandau otherwise.
First: HOLY CRAP! IT'S A GIRL!
<3 taru girls, I make 'em all blush for me.
Second: Uh, I thought it was proven that non-crit TP wses can't crit without SA or MS, though all the Dex does add a lot of acc...
Unless the relic damage proc is counted/proc'D as a crit, then that completely destroys my argument.
I've heard that, and I've heard that it was debunked. I haven't read anything definitive one way or the other, mostly speculatively. But from what I've seen, I believe it's possible that non-crit based WS's can crit. Open to any substantive proof otherwise.Originally Posted by Max™
Well, I always have my damage log on, and pay close attention to my WS damage.
When I SA Double a Steel Cyclone at 200 TP, it does 2000-2300 to dolls at Despot.
When I Double without SA/2hr at 200 TP, it does 1400-1800 to them.
I can conclusively say, without any shadow of a doubt, that I have never gotten a non-crit Steel Cyclone to pop 2k on something that wasn't waaaaaaaaaay too weak to be worthwhile.
I throw Steel Cyclones around a lot, and know the jump that a crit adds to the WS, and cannot say that I've ever seen that type of jump once in what must be thousands of WSes by now.
HOWEVER: Relic multiple Dmg procs COULD be triggered by Dex, as I believe this has not been thoroughly tested yet, and if you seem to get a higher rate of 3x Dmg proc Kaitens with full Dex, then you go, Tarugirl.
That would explain a little. The job I've done the bulk of the testing with is my nin, and I main hand the kikoku. But I still prefer to more definitive before I write it off. You have any older posts with detailed proof supporting your argument?Originally Posted by Max™
Hmmm, Well it's more complex in your case because with the Kikoku you would still use Jin so you're well involved in the Crit TP line of thinking.
It's also really complicated because noone that I know of knows for sure what triggers relic damage procs, so it's just as likely to be Dex as a random number generator.
I can't say it definitely because I can't remember the thread off the top of my head, but in my experience Steel Cyclone has never critted on it's own, and I know the damage of it very well.
Like, against a Greater Colibri, I was messing around in a meripo with it the other night.
Normal without Zerk, 750~800, at 100% Tp, with Zerk 850-950, with double going up to 1100 generally. With 200 TP I'll drop 1400-1600 all day long though it takes too long to save TP like that.
Then compare those numbers to the one I did to end the party with a full buff, 2hred, WC zerk/warcry/etc, where I hadn't broken 1800 once in playing with it, when I 2hr and crit the main hit+double it did 2396.
I would DEFINITELY notice if I'd ever gotten that kind of damage jump.
Same with Kirins, I've done 2 Kirin TP burns every week for the last 4 months.
2hr no double does 1296 lowest, 1756 highest.
2hr double does 1856 lowest, 2062 highest.
Double no 2hr (oops, wrong macro!) does 850-1k.
Again though, for an Amano Sam, you would have to ask Rukenshin.
*flashes the Ruke-signal*
Because he would be able to tell you better if he had noticed any correlation between Dex/3x damage procs, because a Crit Kaiten would probably look a lot like a 3x Dmg Kaiten, and could easily lead to that assumption.
You could really easily test it out though.
Go somewhere like Lower Delkfutts Tower.
Sub Thf, get 100% TP or so (cause your TP mod doesn't change with Kaiten) between the Gigas/Bats around there, and Meditate this will be easy, then SA Kaiten a Gigas bat 10 or 11 times, look for some damage mode that pops up. I'll go do this test too when I get on the game.
Then, get the TP, and just straight Kaiten a Gigas bat 10 or 11 times, or do it until you get a 3x Dmg proc.
My guess is you will get something like 1400 Dmg (not exact number, just pulling out of my ass on these) for the SA Kaitens, 800 for the straight Kaitens, and 1600-2k for the relic dmg proc Kaitens.
If you did enough SA Kaitens you would proc a SA Relic proc Kaiten and probably do some ridiculous thing like 3k to the poor bat.
The reason for the bat tests is they will reduce the variables to crit/non-crit well.
