I use specs/spike necklace, o.kotes/pallas, nq haub, turban/AFII mask- no sam related gorget, swordbelt +1/life belt/warwulf, and amemit +1 among other things. This relic taru's gear looked darn good to me. Maybe I'm too much of a under achiever to see how much a nq haub gimps him.

Could be worse... I could be sporting the full Hachiman set. I made a conscious choice to gimp myself somewhat to help fund the relic and looking back I wouldn't have done it differently (especially the hauby+1, I sold that when it was 3x the price it is now, in comparison coins have barely fallen in price since then). With regards to the comment about shura togi, the reason I'm using it over my NQ hauby is because I'm selling the hauby to buy back my hauby+1.

Continue telling me what I already know, it makes no difference. Am I supposed to feel bad for having sacrificed having great gear to help obtain my goal? Because I sure as hell don't feel bad, I love my new weapon. The real question shouldn't be "is my gear bad?", it should be "what am I going to do with my Samurai now that I have obtained my relic?". Answer: I'm going to improve it, buy back the gear I sold, work hard for the right to lot Justice Torque, complete that damned Divine Might again for my Bushi, etc.

So you can think what you want but I'll post my relic with my gimped gear and be proud that I reached my goal.

Except for the fact that relic is supposed to be one of the last things you get for your pimped out status. So what you got a relic weapon but the fact that you gimped yourself to get it takes away from the whole effect. As in your supposed to be "Ok I have everything I need for my <job>, I'll start to think about getting a relic now."... not "Ok I have my relic, now how do I make my relic holding <job> good?". How do you honestly expect that relic to put up those big #s for you?

Self funding your relic is no excuse to gimp yourself. If you can make enough gil to buy most of your currencies there is no reason you can't wait a little longer to get final pieces that selling your HQ and replacing with the NQ would get you; especially when you've probably been working on it for over a year. Because honestly you might have shaved off a time of 1-2months by gimping yourself.

2nd) your LS melees must be the shitty to get owned by someone who dont even have a fucking 6hits setup, GG. (come on, hachiman kote are like 50k on my server)

3rd) i agree that you can get what you lost to pay the relic easily next to paying the whole relic but still, relic is the cherry on the cake, you cant put the cherry on the cake if there is no cake ... and all i see on this SS is a hole, a huge hole

From this response alone I can tell you this dude's a better relic holder than half of the gilbuye...I mean players who've, rightfully or not, bragged about their stuff on this thread thus far. Congrats mate.

At the end of the day, a relic is a relic... he obviously doesn't have the disposable income like others/patience to keep his gear good while upgrading.

Actually I do have a 6hit setup; Hachiman Kote and Sune-Ate instead of the lolhaste gear. I used it for a while but I found I did much better using haste in dynamis as the mobs would often die too fast (talking about non-xarc here). My Samurai was really only used for dynamis and the ocassional Fafnir so I just stuck with the haste gear. Since I'm completely re-evaluating all my gear I'll be looking into a mix of haste and sTP.

And why does a relic have to be the final thing you get for your job? Why should people who don't have the greatest gear not be allowed to get relics? I'd rather a kinda gimp, nice player earns their relic than some asshat, gilbuyer just IGE'ing their way to pimp gear and a relic. That's what this thread should be about; people earning their relics, which is exactly what I've done. I've struggled for a long time now to make the gil to sponsor dynamis and with todays economy it isn't easy. Why should I struggle if I can sell my hauby+1 or <insert other expensive item here> to make my life a bit easier when I have every intent of buying said item back once I finish my relic?

It does but I'm fairly sure the grand total of uh... 2 store tp he's wearing otherwise doesnt add up to the necessary store tp for a 6 hit setup even with the effect.

well then its just a difference in point of view but still, its stupid. you learn a job when you level it not when you get a relic for it and you are 75 since 2years (exageration here, dont take me 1st degree).

idk, i'm pretty sure that for any person who leveled SAM as his/her/its first job, Amano is the final goal. you might get it before a Cerberus +1 or a justice torque since both are a pain due to randomness while relic isnt random at all but its an other story.

might be an extreme but imo, a GB and a person rushing his relic is the same thing in the end : a retard (by rushing i mean in the bad way, when we arrive in this kind of situation).

having an awesome weapon and shitty gear is different than having awesome gear and shitty weapon, see what i mean? i'm not saying you should be full blue/white boxes but at least have a gear that is smart not just tossed here and there using /random.

the day i have a relic i wont be overpimp or HQed everywhere but i wont have a gear totally wrong just to finish my relic 2months faster, thats i think what makes people puke.
