You're new, and you're wrong, I hereby revoke your right to an opinion and request that you never fucking come back with such bold statements regarding a board you clearly have such vast knowledge of.

People who take random SS's of people with relics they don't know and post them, a general critique happens and sometimes people get dragged in unwittingly, I was holding myself back from posting about the SAM, but if you have the absence of mind to not post yourself here looking like the piece of shit he does, then you deserve the full weight of "WHAT THE FUCK" that you receive.

He finished relic with 900k in his pocket, 2 weeks, max, and he could afford a HQ haub, and probably more, and saved himself from having to validate his relic but he instead chose to post here looking like a scrub I wouldn't even let merit within 500' of me. This thread is 'post at your own risk' if you get humiliated, 9 times out of 10 the only one you have to blame is yourself, and the decisions you made along the way to your relic.

I recently sold sniper +1 for money towards my katana, I'll be posting here in Uthulam's ring and I'm not very happy about it AND I FULLY EXPECT TO HAVE SOMEONE ON MY DICK ABOUT IT. These are the rules, suck it up or get the fuck out.

I'm hardly new, I've been lurking for a very long time. I understand my post count isn't as massive as yours, and I can rest well knowing it never will be, but my opinion still stands. The only people I see humiliating themselves are the ones that like swinging around their post counts and trying to downplay people's accomplishments, well, in-game accomplishments.

Gimping yourself for a relic is a choice, posting here for us to see is a choice, choosing whether or not people think you deserve the relic IS NOT A CHOICE.

I think anyone who could sell all their gear to get relic would do so, its much easier to farm 1m at a time to to rebuy white boxed items, than it is to farm 70m while saving and making you go crazy while you go months without a new item.

I agree but the SAM didn't seem completely shocked by the asshole comments. Again, people are critiquing him as if he won't ever get an HQ Haub/etc. again. As if he's perma-gimped now..

It wouldn't have changed hands if it wasn't the original dant or you personally asked me to give it up. Dant was a lot of fun and one of the better experience I had in FFXI. The rumor would have ended there but GAWD.

In specific regards to the SAM's gear and that debate... The same points have been made ten times over, opinions obviously won't change, and people have argued to their hearts content about it on the last 4 pages.

The first one offers more instant gratification. <_< We're only human.

I understand the mentality of what you guys say about getting it last. At the same time tho, I can see why getting one of the harder(est) to get pieces for your job first or over other easier to obtain items is understandable as well. It's just 2 different mind sets, and neither is wrong or right. One is the 'ideal' that relics are the ultimate achievement and signal the end of the progression. The other is the more piratical philosophy of getting the harder to obtain items at the cost of the easier to obtain ones. If it's not as hard to get then it seems like a downhill struggle from what you have already accomplished. Not everyone can say they have a relic, and a lot of the times I've need people who would otherwise be able to afford one if they had more drive, widdle away their money on smaller pieces that amount to less in the long run. He has the relic now, everything else is down hill. He can always get them later, but not everyone can get a relic now.

From what I've seen, it is quite a common practice to collect the best piece first (in nearly every part of endgame) and get the rest time after time so why do you bark at people who do exact the same thing only with a slight bigger magnitude?

I want to go back a few pages about Therin saying if he got an Excal he'd post a pick of him /NIN with it and hawtclair since he would't have a kasier or aegis. You'd still be insulted for getting a sword before shield for your PLD.

Getting a relic is great, using it for merrits on birds and mamool is a waste, no matter what relic it is (unless it's a horn ;o) it won't matter, mobs still won't pop fast enough. You can still get 20K+/hr without any relics in the party. I can see if your shell takes down big HNMs and your using it to own things. As the SAM mentioned he only really uses it for dynamis, which I hope is a joke. If I was getting a relic just to say I did, it would be something like a staff just to piss people off. But actually getting a 1/2 decent relic and not even using it is.... Uh... Nevermind, I doubt people read past the Therin part of this post. I know if I see more than 2 paragraphs I just skip the post and go to the next.

I'd gratz you but I still think if it's not a horn, or even maybe a shield, it's a waste =(


Edit: <_< what kind of Dynamis system do you have where you have to save and spend points? F-that, point systems suck. If someone deserves something, give it to them, if they don't then don't. If someone on Phoenix did that, I'd go out of my way to find them using it and screenshot their gear. I know lots of other people on other servers that would do the same thing.
