I'd love to see a crazy Jump with a TA, three crits, and 3x proc on each, but odds of that happening have gotta be like one in a billion.

I know you can SA Jump/high jump (some drg used to do it in ballista here), not like DRGs sub THF anymore though. I don't know if it would force crit all of the hits if you triple attack the jump though.

You have one thing right though, that poster is sadly misinformed or uninformed. Based on extensive experience with the weapon, ~ 9months now? I’d say, you’d be hard pressed to find a setup that can surpass the above by any significant margin for general physical damage, i.e. EXP/merit type situations etc. To the best of my knowledge I guess you could say it’s more or less equal to a top notch ridill set up.

Of all the E.body&Ridill wars I’ve had the opportunity to play with. Only one has surpassed it by a margin of approximately less than 4% (though I hadn’t “finalized” the setup at the time of that parse) all others generally tend to lag behind in the parse by that much or more. No MNKs (BB, Togi+1, and even some usukane) has ever surpassed it in my experience, the margin that they lag behind tends to vary depending on the MNK. I’ve had the opportunity to play with a Bravura WAR/SAM, and he surpassed it by ~6%.
I’ve also had the opportunity to see an amano SAM, though that parse came out with the kikoku leading very slightly or equal to the SAM. I’d attribute that to the SAM not being “top notch” at the time, a result similar to the Bravura WAR/SAM is at least normally expected. (Note: most/all of these parse experiences are from Mamool ja. Jade sepulcher)

In terms of how “powerful” it is when you compare it to those other popular relic weapons in the situation in question. I’d guess that it’s approximately equal to spharai and mandau(piercing bonus N/A). I’d guess that it surpasses the Yoichinoyumi (piercing bonus N/A), simply due to the share amount of damage over time at least. Top notch SAM (amano inclusive) and WAR/SAM(Bravura necessary) naturally surpasses it, no surprise there. I can’t really say about Apoc DRK/SAM, since I’ve had no experience with that setup at all, though I’d guess it should be similar to the other /SAMs,(depending on WS dmg with the scythe)

In short, it’s a nice weapon to have if you’re a dedicated and/or career ninja.

I messed /w DRK/DRG a few times back in the day. I'm fairly confidant I had a few 2.5x procs on Jumps. I haven't played DRK/DRG is about a year, so it isn't fresh in my mind. Add effects also proc during jumps even though it won't display a message indicating such. For example: Blindness can proc on a jump /w no message in logs, except when it wears. Also applies to Blood Weapon.

To add, I <3 Kikoku. I've been strongly considering upgrading one as a second relic if I can find the funds. I love ninja as a DD job and would love to see it's full potential, esp in low-man situations.

EDIT: To the poster above me... I don't mean to be too critical, but I find it hard to believe you beat multiple 2H Relics /w that setup. If you can post some parsers, would be nice~

I get irritated by blatant idiocy, and I think my level on condescending was more than appropriate given the shit that I have to deal with, as being the most well known Kikoku upgraders on the forums right now (I.E. the shit that Izzy got for Mjollnir)

3x dmg procs in my experience can't happen on double/triple attacks. Or in fact, any strike except the very first of each combat round. Which means if you offhand a 1h relic, 3x dmg never procs.

I actually didn't know this, and come to think of it I never remember it happening. Seems like a possible truth. I do however remember reading that the 3x never happened when other people were off-handing a relic, in particular I mostly remember a debate of main handing Senju with Kikoku and people finding out that the 3x proc never happened with Senju in main hand.

But, yeah... It makes sense.

I don't have any personal experience with it, but according to a Gugnir DRG I've been speaking to it is possible. It would also seem that Kirschy agrees.

Although at the same time it may be hard to distinguish between a 3x proc and a crit, unless both happened... In which case it'd be easy to see. As there's no way you'd do like what, 600-1k damage in a jump without a DA/TA? But still having the TP return of one swing.

But, again, this is based off of another's experiences so I can't say for certain for myself. I haven't done as much SAM/DRGing, I get annoyed by not having Provoke.
