I don't get why people start relics before they get 75. <_> What if 3 months down the line he realizes that he doesn't like playing DRK? lol

3 possible answers.

1. They managed to start-finish their relic in 4-5 weeks and havn't a clue about the job anyways.
2. They really love the job and can't wait to get their hands on the relic. Regardless of what they might think in a few months time.
3. They are fucking morons who think <insert job's relic> is the "next big thing".

Unless Wopa's post was a great big joke about the guy constantly dlvling and staying at 74 just for "lulz" but I highly doubt that.

4. They keep only the coins so if they quit, quit the job, or want a different weapon then they can just switch or sell.

Well, I haven't actually started my own relic yet, I'm going to start Horn once my husband's Mandau is done. Note, my Bard is currently lvl 61. My only other high lvl jobs are WHM and SMN, do you seriously expect me to upgrade the relic for those jobs? o.O

I love bard, and would have had it 75 long ago if it didn't require so much gear changing just to lvl properly (bloody marching band carried around with me because you never know for sure which songs your pt will ask for...). I have some kind of end-game event just about every night, so I have to keep gear for my 2 lvl 75 jobs either on me or close by basically at all times...

Most DDs are pretty similar (they attack shit) so it's not like DRK is a unique job in terms of dealing damage... Maybe if he got Aegis and had never tried endgame tanking before then yeh, sure that would be a bit crappy since he doesn't know if he would like it or not ;o

Eh, I have to disagree as far as 'they're all basically the same' goes for DDs.

I have just about all of the 'melee DDs' 75 with the exception of ToA/WoG ones, and they all play rather differently. Some are definitely more fun than others, some get boring faster, some just aren't so fun sometimes. You may love one DD job, but really not like another.

DRK is definitely not a "safe" DD. If you're used to playing something like NIN or WAR, you're going to be in for a vast change. Getting an Apoc makes it moreso safe, but spamming Catastrophe isn't going to produce the wicked numbers that you might want out of a Bravura or something else. Each relic is different just like each DD job is different, and if you don't know how to play your job your relic isn't going to do shit for you.

That being said, you might not like the changes that the relic will bring for your job. An Apoc DRK operates very differently from a non-Apoc DRK, for instance.

And it's even more sad if you upgrade Aegis or Gjallarhorn before 75, because those jobs can get old really fast if you don't enjoy it.

Maxx is right. And sure, you can play DRK safely and never activate LR or SE and even sub NIN so that you don't take hate or damage! But that wouldn't be a very smart idea, would it?

Maxx is right. And sure, you can play DRK safely and never activate LR or SE and even sub NIN so that you don't take hate or damage! But that wouldn't be a very smart idea, would it?

I often do damn well w/o SE. I don't hesitate on LR much, only ever for hate reasons, but SE can be dangerous a lot of the time.
