I wouldn't keep Sattva if I was Merona tho, just use Hercules and/or Mermaid's if you want Enmity, lolVIT lolAGI and 30 HP isn't gonna do as much as having a 6 hit set on WAR will do for said jobs.

I'm not sure why you'd even consider anything other than Excalibur if you've already got an Aegis, to be perfectly honest with you. There's nothing else that's quite as awesome as the Excal/Aegis combo. I say go Excalibur. :D

Though, its a bit silly, Greiv, to refer to cure-swapping as some sort of unnecessary burden. Its really as easy as hitting two macros. You can cure yourself for as much as you want, and entirely skip the enmity loss than generally comes with losing your HP.

And, while I could be entirely wrong, I'm fairly certian Merona is referring to Sattva Ring as more of an emblem of the career Paladin, rather than staple piece of equipment that defines whether or not you can play the job. Didn't they already mention that it was, in practice, nothing more than a cure-swap?

No don't misunderstand me. I dont think cure swaps are a burden. My opinion was only that of in a position where you may cart around a ton more gear for other jobs, (esp those with multiple relics). Taking dmg to cure it /RDM + other hate generating tools can be more practical to the 69/70 inventory players. It was more of an -inventory response.

My only issue in my previous post was aimed at ppl who have PLD with Dring, Shadow, Jelly etc, and also have a quite pimp or semi-decent DD job should have a Rajas in their inventory. Dropping a 6-hit on your DD job over a ring that can be replaced with a Herc/BQR combo just seems a bad choice. Unless this is down to VIT and AGI?

Anyways this is too trivial to be taking the relic thread off the rails. Gear decisions are your own at the end of the day. If Sattva is an iconic item for you then by all means love it ^^

Again, I wouldn't personally have to drop my 6-hit because I got a Sattva. I already have that with Askar/Brutal/Ecphoria. Think you misunderstood that.

Tsuko understood me properly in that I feel Sattva Ring is an emblem, but not something that will make or breaks you as a Paladin. I don't have a Knightly Earring, to answer whoever said that earlier, as I don't feel it is good enough to select over Suppanomimi, nor do I believe that it is an "iconic" piece of gear or whatever although I have entertained the idea of swapping up at times just to be the "complete" Paladin, or at least one step closer. Sattva Ring is hands-down onw of the best cure swap pieces in the game because if provided HP and Enmity and does not cause you to blink.

As for the whole ignorance thing--I think it is improper and rude to judge someone's play-style as horrible based on a single gear choice. Yes we all make certain decisions that may not seem in-line with the norm or whatever (but I did not feel mine was one of these), and the argument usually comes down to "do whatever works for you" or "shit's situational". Concerning PLD/RDM, I think more people should be open to this. I'm not sure I would make the switch tomorrow, but personally I have showed up to Aspid camps as PLD/RDM, and sky/sea farming depending on the itinerary. It does work, but I was not impressed with the trade-offs. You really don't need all the hate tools if you're not taking damage to begin with, etc. It's a lot of work (read: challenging at times) compared to what PLD/NIN does with less effort and a smaller macro set. There is a time and place for everything however.

Anyways, back to the relics! Anyone else make a Claustrum yet...

Yes they are easy to evade, but the key to holding hate for a PLD is cure bombing. When it comes to spear and zeus, at least in our case, we prefer to eat it and Cure4 ourselves, because melee hits don't generate enough dmg to spam Cure4 enough to not actually stay at full MP.

What the fuck is this mentality that PLDs key is to avoid all possible damage? The key is to have a balance between taking damage and your MP pool. In the end with the correct balance you will never lose hate. The damage you take will never lose as much hate as the hate you receive from Cure4, so if you can keep taking damage and Cure4ing yourself without running out of MP, then that is your best choice. Your goal as PLD is to stay at the hate cap, and never drop.

Any good tank caps CE after 5 minutes into the fight at most. At that point you have to work more on VE to keep as most hate as possible. If you get hit by a WS for 400 dmg, and have say 1800 hp, you're losing 400 CE and gaining 12mp due to the Ethereal. Then you cure4 yourself for 400 HP and 88 mp, and gain 290.8(with no enmity gear), while gaining pretty much 1744VE(with no enmity) at all as Flash/Blind are nice but you lose 1800VE every 30 seconds so its never capped long and you lose VE much faster than the 25 CE per shadow. I'd go with not getting hit.

Not disagreeing with pld/rdm working, but had to try and tidy that up a little bit since he seemed to have CE and VE backwards.
