On another note, this is why destroyers is the next best weapon to upgraded relic for mnk, see the 7% crit vs 14%, and we all know how broken crits are in this game.

Wanna help us with the BC? :D 0/13 here we come! Just need to find some people willing to help, lol.Originally Posted by Tulia
7% is pretty low in general, most well-equiped and properly meritted jobs can at least get a 9-10% critical hit-rate. I wouldn't really call crits broken either though, in the end they're still a rather small percent of your total damage.
I did the math for the MNK that parsed with a 7% crit-rate, and assuming that he got off around 1500 swings in the length of that PT (about how many it should be considering the total damage), an additional 7% to his crit rate would've only added about 5% to his total damage (about 5k).
Double D sucks Kalia, do CC it drops like 1/3 always and a balanced party can do it easily. Sometimes even drops some ok items to sell.
Well there's what I get for not checking this thread for a few days.
Grats Archain!
/comfort Kalia.
I think the other MNK is a she... unless someone else using that account. The averages are lower due to bugards I'm sure. With the defense move up, probably drops your hits by 50% or so. Not sure, I wasn't paying that much attention to the dmg done, only cared for the 200+ exp chains happening every 20-40sec.Originally Posted by RKenshin
I don't really recall either of us hitting on birds or even bugards for lower than 65ish. It was usually around 75-85 or so when I glanced at the numbers. So if you want to recalculate, taking away the 0's or 20-40 dmg done when those things used that move, average should be near 75ish for both of us.
We can go merit again Kalia and not fight bugards or something for like 30mins or so, and see the results then go back to fighting whatever. Maybe that's how we can see a higher average. Parsers are cool and accurate but they don't tell the whole story. You have to approach things in a scientific way, like controlled sample, moon phase, time of day, weather, epon panels, etc to get an accurate number. Just like screenshots or pictures, it's just one angle of the whole thing.
Side note: When I was in university, I really hated math, not doing math, but how things are calculated. An average imo is the most inaccurate way to guage your performance during your education. IF you did 5 exams/tests on a course and you received 100%, 90%, 95%, 85%, and 0%, your average will be low because of that 0%. Just because you failed at 1/5 does not mean you are just mediocore at that course when you aced 4/5 tests/exams.
I dont think moon phaze affects standard melee damage unless a weapon is specifically coded to be affected by it (Selene's Bow), nor time of day, etc...
I was just using that math as a general example, not something concrete.
I actually looked through some of my parses to find a better example to use, but none of mine have the average critical hit damage tracked. So I'd have to guess one way or another.
I think a good update to the parser program is to track crit total melee damage? Unless it has that function, to see the % of crit melee dmg contributes to a melee DD's total damage.Originally Posted by RKenshin
Also if you look at the WS category of the other MNK, her/his numbers were lower, so it can be either these things:
1. Not using TP @ 100%? If you hold tp even say 15-25% more (roughly 2-3 attack rounds) I think over time, the dmg would be affected alot.
2. Asuran Fists is capped at 8 hits. If you have the same attack and the WS is lower, that means you're missing hits on WS. So could be accuracy issue, no gorget? no acc equip swap for WS? I don't know. Maybe didn't use focus when it was up? Alot of factors.
Parser can't tell this.
Yeah I was being sarcastic, note the Ebon panels.Originally Posted by NynJa

Anyway it wasn't really so much of an issue lol, we never broke chain except when the other PT killed all the mobs.
Thiefs eating meat are gonna have a super-easy time landing and procing an acid bolt during a finale cooldown.
I guess the answer is stop inviting white mages (or drop a dd for a rdm and have everyone sub war)
Why? We were getting, according to Kalia like 21k/hour, does it matter, WHM RDM etc.Originally Posted by aurik
Who would tank, the THF's or the MNK's? and everyone becomes MP sink to boost parser numbers?
And yeah both THF's we're using a bomb-something of a sort so no bolts.
please dont tell me you suggested a meat eating thief use that...Originally Posted by aurik
You don't have capped marks/racc gear to land bolts?Originally Posted by NynJa
Bugards are not as evasive as the birds: should be able to macro out and hit them. Now if you're using a bomblet/core, I guess you reap what you sew.
I wouldn't fight shit that uses self-buffs without a reliable dispel. If you don't have dispel, avoid the bugards; thf gets the piercing bonus on colis, with 2 mandaus you should be focussing on those anyway.
