From my memory of Rostrum Pumps 30-40% complete resist seems very good indeed. Combine that with a Flawless ribbon and you could probably get a pretty reliable means of resisting those pesky status effects? I'm also really happy to hear that the wind skill seems to have a noticable effect on debuffing when brought up to a respectable level. The C skill has always bothered me hence the Skill vs CHR debates, so it seems from what you've said that wind skill behaves just like enfeebling/elemental would at that level (only people can get those skills well into the 300s )

Regarding your other comments, my understanding is that resist status effect traits (including the songs that enhance them), have two possible outcomes: 1) You completely resist the effect and as such you never even get the icon, 2) You partially resist the effect, which means you are still infilicted with it, but with a shorter duration than normal. So even though you only got a "30-40% resist rate" on those things during Rostrum Pumps, I'm willing to bet that the other 60-70% of the time the effects always lasted considerably less time than they would have had none of those songs/spells been used to enhance the trait.

Yeah, this is fairly common knowledge (whether accurate or not, I don't know for sure, but like everyone else, I assume it), but, in my opinion, the shorter duration is inconsequential(sp) due to the fact that if your PLD has been petrified you want to Stona him right away, and not wait to see if it will be a partial resist that would have a shorter duration than normal.

It could possibly be important in certain fights that use AoE status effects. If everyone in the party gets hit by something that really sucks, and you only have say 2 people in the party with Erase, some of those people are going to have to let the effect wear off on its own. Sure, you could have a WHM use Divine Veil + Erase, but that's still only every 10 minutes, any mob that's going to use bad AoE status effects is most likely going to do it pretty often.

Relics aren't game breaking but they are a force multiplier. Can you live without them? Easily, but I still believe that they allow you do the same amount with fewer people. If you are going to NMs with 24+ people, then the overall relic effect is reduced. If you are stuck with fewer people at say a fafhogg (see above example), then it is more game breaking than someone coming in with a DD relic.

i'd believe that, and probably mildly legitimately as well(tho im sure there are plenty out there who aren't).

fact is, on alexander, upgrading a relic is cheaper than it has ever been. the average bazaar price of singles is 10k, with 'friend rates' being anywhere from 6-8k. that means that if you never set foot into a dynamis zone and buy every single piece of currency at market value, that's ~180mil. while that sounds like a lot of money, and of course it is, that's not the insurmountable mountain many people faced at the peaks of inflation when a relic cost 4-6 times that much to upgrade. furthermore, folks who saved rather then spent when the economy was in the process of deflating tend to have had their money rise in value.

case in point, i've got, i dunno, about 7 mil at the moment. not the most gil i've ever had, certainly not the least. but it's far more valuable in our current economy than the 30-40 mil i had during the peak of inflation.

I think hes been saving currency for quite some time though, and probably just recently chose to go with shield.

Yeah, Fairy also has something like the the 3rd lowest relics on the server. We've obviously been doing dynamis the same amount of time you'd think there would be plenty to go around, but then you gotta think about nabs who get to stage 3 and quit..

i think i have enough money to upgrade 3 Relic through my LS. Our LS rules is once you get Lv3, LS is paying for the rest almost all the way through it.

Going to do Sword, Shield for sure. but then i'm still undecided about Dagger, Bow/Gun or Katana or i could give Club for my GF ^-^
