This is a picture of my horse Spirit and a barn cat named Rascal. Spirit is the only horse in the barn that she'll jump onto and ride.

Also, bump.
NECROBUMP GO!
Newest (and final) four-legged family member. No more pets, now, pls!

His name is Longbottom, he's shockingly well-tempered, and we're pretty sure he's deaf. I'm going pretty schizo having a chinchilla named Ferret and an actual ferret. Also, the two are being kept far apart. FAR apart. Ferret, being a hardcore 'chilla that he is, hasn't even blinked at the notion of suddenly having a predator in the house.
Chinchillas eat Ferrets? Aren't they like the same fucking size, the hell?
Other way around...
Ferrets eat anything lol.
Chinchilas are herbivores. Pellets and vegies onry.
I believe her Chinchila is named "Ferret", which is what led to the confusion.
My fish tank I posted way back in the thread is long gone since I bought a new house -_-
I started up a new one. I didn't take these pictures, a friend of mine did. The coral is mine though.

This was a puppy we had named Habenero, Nero for short. He became a champion and we sold him to some people in Russia.

This one is Luna's brother, Odie.

And here are some of our pugs on the couch. Left to right is Annie, Cherry, Helen, Maybeline, and Luna.
Don't mind the copyright on the images, it is my mom's name. Haha.

What size tank do you have? Ive been looking in to brancing in to salt water in a 45 gallon.Originally Posted by Quixon
Currently have a 90 Gallon. It's been up since April but I've been in the Salt Water hobby over 5 years.
I always wanted a salt water tank when I was young and had my first tank when I was 19. It's a lot easier than I thought it would be. It's an expensive hobby though.

how much would you say the equipment change over would be. I have 2 200 gallon rates. Now is the lighting diffrent?
If you want coral than you will need the hardcore lighting. Metal Halide or T5 High Output Flourescent.
If you want to do just fish w/ live rock you can use any lighting you want.
For my 90 gallon I went with a Sunlight Supply Tek5 6 Bulb T5 Fixture. It was $469.95 not including the bulbs. The bulbs were another $120ish (6 Bulbs at about $20/each.) For a 200 gallon tank you are going to want 3 250 watt Halides probably(if the tank is 6ft long). You're looking at around $657 not including bulbs for a halide retrofit. This set up would be able to keep any coral/clam available.

99% of the coral you can keep is photosynthetic so you can't have it w/o the light. Different corals require different light intensities, so your light just needs to meet the needs of your tank.
There are cheaper ways to do the lighting, retrofit systems and such, but I didn't want to bother with that shit.
My 90 gallon cost me about 4 Grand total before even putting water in the tank lol. The 2 most expensive parts are the Live Rock (which you gotta have), and the lighting (if you want coral you gotta have). I've easily spent another grand on livestock, and I only have 2 small fish in the tank atm lol.
I actually do aquarium installs as a side job, so if you want I can price something out for ya so you know what to expect haha. I just need to know the tank dimensions and what kind of coral if any you want to keep.
Wowzers.... I ahve really try and budget that then. i might PM ina day or two about the stuff.
nice Zoa's there Quixon. I will have to put up a link to my 55g later today (go go my work blocking photobucket now).
@Ace: I had freshwater for the longest time, then decided to start a Reef tank. I am really glad I don't have an exact amount as to what I have spent. Between the lights, test kits, sand/rock (go go MML Rock) I would say it has been close to 1.8k spread over the course of a year or two.
My cat Tyra who is almost 13 years old now!
