It doesn't neccessarily make it unscary, but it'll keep you from shitting your pants.

You'll be like "GAH!!" then you'll be like "oh..lol" but after the "oh..lol" wears off you'll go back to a state of "GAH!!"

Well just got home from watching this movie...all I can say is, do not, I repeat, DO NOT stay in a theater full of teenage girls...there were approximately 100 tenage girls and some teen boys that looked questionable...Worst thing about having teen girls in theaters is when they all scream in the highests of pitch voices as they scare so easily...my ears are still bleeding from all the screaming, it was so bad that some parts (you could sorta guess when something bad or scary was going to happen was coming up) that I had to cover my ears just to avoid the pain. Other than all the screaming (admittedly it did add a nice touch of horror to the movie to have so many people scream) the movie was pretty good, my wife was scared and is now calling me to get to bed since she does not want to be alone, lol.

The SAW movies aren't scary, that's the thing. They're more mind tricks and interesting, with a driven plot and cool characters. There isn't anything scary about them.

With movies like the The Grudge, you know that crazy chick and the little boy are going to be popping out at you, killing things, doing creepy crazy really scary shit. I can't watch movies like that, they scare me so bad! But SAW isn't scary, it's just really cool.

Plus, since the second one was monumentally better than the first, which I thought was amazing, the third should hopefully live up to expectations.

I just got back from the Grudge 2, it was really good
I would have to say scarier than the first one, and it was a tad confusing if you don't catch onto the 3 different stories that take place at 3 different times (one in the past right after the fire, one quite awhile later, and then one in the present).
All in all it was pretty good, they did overdo some stuff though.
I would recommend it if you liked the Grudge.

Most horror movies these days aren't scary at all.

Really, a large portion of them I would personally clasify as comedies. So ridiculous how so many shitty horror films manage to get to theatres.

There has only been one great horror film this year really: The Descent.

As for horror movies not being scary, name a horror movie that is scary first... The only, and I mean only, movie that gives me the chills is the exorcist. Nothing else past or present is even remotely scary in my opinion.

Freddy Krueger's series were effective on me. I couldnt sleep for ages as a kid after watching them. I havent watched them recently, and I dont get scared from movies anymore, so might not have the same effect, but the idealogy behind it was really great back in the day. Dont fall asleep now

Just like him the only movies that I have ever been scared by were Krueger videos. Even thought I wouldnt sleep for a few days after... when I was a kid I loved every freddy movie lol. All recent ones have sucked though. Mostly because after seeing so many movies over the ages it is easy to see where / when / how everything will unfold in the movies.

Saw it today with 5 other people. Honestly I think this movie was retarded. Half the time we were just laughing because of how awful the acting is and the stupid random things they do. Let me think of examples.

There is a scene where a cheerleader goes into an apartment and goes to someone's door. The door opens and there's another girl in there, apparently her friend, but she is completely still. Then she hold up a jug of milk. And chugs it. And then slowly vomits it back into the jug.

That is it. There's no reasoning behind it. I am still not even sure who the hell either of those two people were.

Another thing is the chinese researcher guy who got the curse. Oh jesus he is a bad actor. A lot of the things he does makes no sense, such as when he is able to track down a girl's address and happens to pop up all the time when she is around.

We were not sure whether it was supposed to be a serious horror movie or a joke movie. It was that bad. It is not scary. What it is is predictable and filled with cliche and the corniest, lamest lines ever. Don't waste your money.
