i have had xbox live since its release on original xbox 4 years ago... 1 major update every year to upgrade server/live version... this update has ALWAYS been 24hrs. they have had a few minor updates (maybe 1 or 2) since 360 release, but thats just growing pains and hardly normal.

bottom line, this thread is OP desire to beat someone at posting a POL update on BG forum, hardly newsworthy.

You guys need to seriously quit bitching about one damn maintence. Go play ANY other MMO on the planet and watch how many times they go undermaintence or just drop all together for odd reasons on a weekly basis. Doesnt even WoW have a maitence every tuesday and can be extended on a regular basis?

FFXI is a dream when it comes to the amount of time you can play over the amount of time the game is under maintence.

WoW has been upgrading their servers recently, so the weekly maintainences have been extended for some servers. It's kind of annoying, but I was only effected once really. Now that they're done upgrading my server things run infinately smoother though.

I miss the fact that FFXI only went down once in a blue moon, but I certainly don't miss people bitching about the updates.

PoL is good, but their maintenances aren't usually scheduled for more than 8 hours, and sometimes are extended to 12 if something goes wrong. I really find it hard to believe that Microsoft would have people working for 24h straight.

8h is 1 full work shift, 12 is overtime if something fucked up.
24h is 3 full shifts back to back.

p.s. This is the 2-3rd XBLive update I can remember in the 6-7months I've had the system. This is the longest one of the 3 tho.

cuz they never add anything to the game that anyone uses, thus no reason to fix it.
