I think it was made a rule in a thread that got derailed into a takedown thread.

It was also mentioned earlier in the lolsash IV thread, around whichever page Takedown started bragging.

I, and I'm sure most others too, don't exactly read every post that gets made...

when i read a thread, i typically read every post (or i tend to skip the thread entirely). that's why i hate stupid one-liner posts that add nothing put post/page counts.

PS. Your feelings are being quiet misplaced. I believe you are forgetting something important, which is that moderators are meant to moderate, not tolerate. It's kind of like government works for the people, not the other way around. While derails are annoying, why fix something that is not broken? If people want catchphrases and gimmick spam things why not let them have it, and deal with it with it becomes a situation. As of now, the claims that you are flexing your moderation muscle are not far off, even if you agree or disagree with them. I don't see anything good coming from your actions at all, at least not for the general group of forum goers.

Wait so you're seriously banning people for saying "Zam" and "lolSash"? Or is this just an example. I can see maybe doing it for offensive stuff, but there is nothing offensive aout the said phrases. And like BRP said, they're fun.

But then people would stop posting altogether because the fun is gone. Not only is FFXI boring as shit (hi2u 6th window NQ adamantoise) but now the drama is unpunctuated in the ways we've come to enjoy.

I kind of preferred the original Septimus lockdown (not sure what happened to that announcement) where newer accounts were more strictly controlled than older ones. Now it seems The Man is threatening to stomp on people who've legitimately contributed to the useful information and flaming drama for our enlightenment and amusement (Nynja).

And why is it that Sonomaa wants everyone to know about his mood? Having to walk on eggshells on this board gets old fast. Go back and edit all of ondori's old bg videos, replacing 'come join us on our forums' with 'GTFO' and your irritation disappears overnight I guess.

I know I haven't been a member of the forums for long, and as such my opinion probably means squat and I fully expect a 'GTFO', but I enjoy some of the light-hearted derails. Some of the quick-witted responses crack me up. Most of the time I've seen threads re-rail themselves on their own anyway, so not sure why the iron fist has to be smashed into people who want to lighten the mood a tad.

The issue is mods threatening to ban people by making a rule on page 13 of 18 of some thread not everyone is reading.

I agree with that, as that wasn't really the issue I was responding to.

Of course, if people used common sense in their posts, no moderation would be necessary in the first place. However, this is the internet, so that's unlikely to happen. Clear, posted rules are a must if you expect people to abide by them.

Get over it and be glad you don't know what it is like to live under the totalitarian regime that would be me. Yeah, we would have at most half as many posters but the discourse would be at least twice as intelligent.

To be fair it has been 3 months since a patch. So yeah, can't expect a lot of discussion.

I'm actually surprised some idiot here hasn't tried to play the free speech card. I think the mods are doing a good job. Don't let this board turn into KI. Things were getting out control and it was only a matter of time before someone tried a "food picture" derail. Thank goodness we were saved from that debacle.

Were you even reading the topic? It wasnt out of controll nor was it consant derail. It was people on one subject. The original topic even had to do with AV, after one case died down people went to another. There was absolutly no reason the topic shoulda been locked other then a mod "being in a bad mood" which IMHO is total shit.

it losts its purpose which was for people to give and take AV information. the douchebaggery of Takedown's LS adds nothing to that discussion.
