We're capable (some of us) of romantically loving a person of the same sex. NONE of us are capable of loving an animal romantically - like being WITH it. That leads me to believe that because we're capable of loving someone of the same sex - then if there is a God, he wanted that to be.

People are supposedly also capable of romantically loving a tree or a dog, that doesn't mean its not fucked up. Some people are in love with themselves and supposedly incapable of loving others. It is impossible to naturally procreate that way and it works against the design of our species. People are also capable of being struck by lightning. Just because something can happen doesn't mean its supposed to happen. I am capable of killing people and eating them lol. Doesn't mean its right.

I hate the religious fanatics that are OK with things that their church isn't. If you're of that religion, you might as well follow it all the way through and not half ass it.

I've never been a part of an organized religion, so I don't actually know much about it other than what I've heard from other people. It just seems unfair for parents to drag their kids to something they probably don't want to be at and almost brainwashing them into believing these "facts." It's the only reason I believe religion still exists in the US, parents force the information into their kids at a young and gullible age, so that when they grow up and have their own kids they can force it into them too. Religion shouldn't be something forced, if you feel you're missing some kind of meaning then go for it, otherwise just live your life.

Anyway, back to the topic: if I were to say there is a God, I would say that he would not intend for same sexes to be attracted to each other. But obviously something went wrong somewhere, and as we all know, God works in mysterious ways. Perhaps something is to come out of it? Perhaps it's a sign of the apocalypse? Who knows.

At this point I'd like to think that all of the scientific data and discoveries would negate the need for religion, but it hasn't.

I agree that "half-assing it" or making comprimises on what the Bible says to be more convenient to the way you live is very stupid and not at all respectable. Its either you are a Christian or you are not lol. The Bible is very black and white in most of its laws and commandments. If you don't agree with it, then find another religion that is more accomidating to your way of living. You would think science has disproved the existence of a god completely, but faith doesn't rely on proof or evidence. As long as people raise their children based on the faith they have in their respective religion, then there will still be religious people. That is how all religions survive through multiple generations.

Yes, but our mainstream religions don't refer to God as such. They say that man roamed the Earth with dinosaurs, they say evolution is bogus, they say men + women onry.

You can theorize that the only true God is time, but you can't say that that is what the religions actually mean when they say God, because that isn't what they mean.

I think it helps people get the idea, because most people can imagine a favorite (but then i guess we have second-favorites... BISEXUAL LOL), and its something you like, but also something that you dont necessarily need.

Some of my gay friends would just say "Love knows no gender," its just a feeling you have for another person. If nearly half the population likes the features of a man, and nearly half the population likes the features of a woman, who is to say that a man cant find those features (of another man) attractive? Or that a woman cant find those features (of another woman) attractive?

People who say that men should like women, and that women should like men, because of procreation, are just regurgitating things they hear from other people. I think theres alot of confusion when it comes to homosexuality, people seem to think every religion and culture in the world viewed it as this awful thing since the dawn of time, where as in reality virtually all of them practiced it in at least some respect until judaism was formed (and the hebrews themselves practiced it for some time before they reformed their religion.)

I don't think it would be such a prevalent, normal aspect of human society if it was never intended to happen.

I don't follow any set Church because Churches can do wrong since they are run by humans. I mean most of the New Testament is Paul sending letters to various Churches cause they're all doing stupid shit, and this is only months/years after they were started. I follow the Bible as best I know it, but my religion comes from that, not a Church. Some people don't get this (within the religion, I mean)

Look, I do see your point. I'm also not a christian, nor follow these beliefs - just debating them to pass time at work.

You can't say, just because some people can feel romantic love for another of the same sex, that God meant for it to be that way. God only created a perfect man. That's fucking it. I hate people who try to pervert the word of GOD into something to suit their argument. God created Adam, and then Eve. They were perfect. He created perfect beings. They then CHOSE to sin, and thusly took on the entirety of sin and everything that goes with it.

Including Homosexuality. Yes, I will say homosexuality is a sin, because it is, stop whining about people saying that, because it is according to Christianity. There is no sugar coating it, there is no saying that only homosexual sex is wrong, any homosexual thought or action is sin. The ones arguing that homosexual thought is not considered a sin are largely misinformed. It explicitly states in the bible that even thoughts can be sin. Coveting someone elses wife (wanting her even in thought) is WRONG. That is a sin, and it isn't like you're going and fucking her, but ya just thinking about it is SIN.

Now that we're got some things straight and pretty boldly said I suppose, let me clarify some Christian beliefs that some people don't seem to understand or choose to ignore. Christians cannot JUDGE anybody, they can't and they shouldn't . Judging another person as if you are god is blasphemy in itself because you are assuming the role of God and acting like you have a right to judge anyone. We are all EQUAL in sin and NO SIN is greater than another SIN. "For we all fall short of the glory of god". Also, the bible explicitly states in Matthew that we are to forgive lest God not forgive us. So any Christian who chooses to judge or hate or any of the sort needs to realize they are themselves acting in sin. A Christian is supposed to go through life trying to be like Jesus. Showing compassion, love, and forgiveness to everyone.

I like to think of Sin as a daily reminder that we are human. Nobody, not even the fucking pope, or if you're non-denominational (like I am) your pastor, can go through a day without sinning. It's not possible, we all do it, we all think about sex, we all think about killing, we all think about living a life that we know is wrong in one way or another. This is the beauty of salvation by Jesus Christ. He died to give us eternal life, in spite of the fact that we will sin until the day we die. Also, just to clarify another thing LARGELY misunderstood by Christians. I forget where but I will state it anyway, someone in Ephesians iirc (take that with a grain of salt), it is said that if we repent and truly realize we are sinners and need Jesus' death in order to achieve eternal life, then we will obtain eternal life, forever. You don't lose your eternal life everytime you sin, nor do you lose your eternal life if you kill 50 million people. You are saved forever. Repentence is just a way or cleaning up your relationship with God and acknowledging you were wrong and attempting to purify yourself in your own mind. God cannot look upon Sin, and the blood of Jesus covers that sin and when he died he died with all your sins, every last one of them that you can or would ever commit, down to hell. And returned from Hell with the key to salvation for all humanity; because God so loved the world.

God does not create hurricanes, volcano eruptions, any of that. God does not look on sinning people or do anything for them; sadly this is the way it is. He may use another Christian in some way or another to reach a lost person, but that is the extent of it. That's another beef I have really, is people who claim God does this, or God does that, God did one thing, he made this forsaken planet we live on and the things on it, that's it. God doesn't do anything in our day in age unless a believer in Jesus Christ asks for it.
