    wtf @ North Korea?

Uh, is it just me, or is North Korea becoming a situation that requires our undivided attention? Speaking as a US citizen, I think it's time Dubya pulls the plug on this Iraq/Afghanistan bullshit and focuses on an enemy who's one step below threatening the world with nuclear war. The US government keeps downplaying the situation, but I think it's because we're over-taxed in our current "priorities". To me this doesn't seem to be an issue to take as lightly as they are.

i think US is trying to let China solve the problem cause china is supposedly pretty pissed at the north.
It is a pressing matter though, and that kim jong ill or w/e the hell his name is, is fucking insane.
I heard in NKorea their textboks say he was born on a mountan top while bolts of thunder and lightning struck... lmao
He is like a king but dumb as fuck. Who the hell test nukes in thier own county these days when we know how bad radiation is..
And apparently he considers UN sanctions an act of war. So is he going to nuke the whole world or just Japan and US? l

As long as Kim isn't completely certifiably insane and suicidal, he has this to think about:

If he goes postal and tries to truly start a war, its N.korea (maybe one or two others ) VS the World. At this point, I'd imagine most countries would gladly take a combined action against N.Korea if they overstep their bounds too much more.

It's called Mutually Assured Destruction. The reason North Korea is developing nuclear weapons is to prevent crackpot religious fanatics, like the American leadership, from coming over there and "liberating" the people.

I swear, how people can believe in democracy when people like the OP are representative of the common voter is beyond me.

Meh, his nukes are terrible, and he can't hit the US with them. China just needs to stop being such a pussy about the sanctions. All Kim knows is violent rhetoric, calling sanctions "an act of war" is ludicrous.

...If I was S. Korea or Japan I'd be kinda worried though. We do have about 30k soldiers in S. Korea too...

Just because the leadership of this country wants to force the idea of democracy onto other people doesn't mean you should downgrade democracy. Downgrade the leader, not the ideal >.>

And I highly doubt that's the reason they're developing nukes. Kim is a power-hungry totalitarian dictator. Nukes give Power. Kim want Nukes. Kiim want Power.

US needs to stay out of this one... Let China/Russia/Japan handle it.

This is potentially a worse scenario than all the other recent conflicts combined, but it doesn't mean we need to go 'save the day'

N.Korea hates us more than words can express, the citizens don't even know what we called the "Korean War" ever ended, that's how supressive the government is with information.

America is hardly led by crackpot religious fanatics lmao
Why do people hate freedom so much? Americans are free, to do whatever they want, they do have to deal with consequences though.
It is sad when you have a country taht people are fleeing to america from and then when we step in finally afetr being begged hundreds of times, we are the bad dudes.
If you ask me these "leaders" of these other 3rd world countries only care about maintaning controll over thier people.
I think if you knew about things like freedom, liberty you would want to be an american as bad as the millions of immigrants who have came here throughout the centuries...
The last thing Americans want is to go liberate another ungrateful fucking country, go let king abhdulla jong ill the 3rd chop off your hand after you got caught stealing an extra apple cause your pregnant and they wont give you extra food rations to have a healthy baby

Their delivery system of the nukes is in question mainly whether it can hit the U.S. It can however hit Japan and/or China quite easily.

I don't think he wants nukes for religious reasons as well, North Korea wants nukes so they are taken seriously on the world stage. Right now Kim is a joke to most of the world outiside his country. He wants them to believe he is a god lmao. If they have nukes they will be feared and somewhat respected. Thats all they have going for their country. The guy seems pretty crazy, but that might be an act to get people to fear him.

You have no idea why N.Korea is developing the nukes beyond what they tell you. When a nutjob like Il gets his hands on nukes (and he is a fucking nutcase... what kind of sane person lets the conditions of his people deteriorate to isolated cases of cannibalism) the world should be concerned, which is why I brought it up. Slapping some kind of crock-pot excuse of self-preservation is complete bullshit. N.Korea is putting themselves on the radar with their irrational statements and actions.

As far as belief in democracy and how I represent "the common voter": what in the FUCK does that have to do with topic? Elaborate plzkthnx. I'm voicing the very real and very dangerous situation over in Asia, and you're throwing out some irrelevant crap with that remark.

Japan can't do shit because it hasn't had a military since WW2 lmao. The UN and mostly the US would have to be there to really defend Japan at this point, I think the same goes for Germany. China doesn't want war because North Koreans could go into their country and migrate in after their country is defeated. The last thing China wants is more people in its country when they are struggling with the people they have now. I doubt this will be settle diplomatically, but the UN will try to.

Yeah but that's the picture that other nations have about us. 3rd world countries' citizens have no input from the outside world, so their leader tells them whatever the fuck they want just to keep himself in good light.

Lots of countries don't give a damn about democracy and freedom, they hate US because like 40% of people are technically obese and we consume more than our fair share of everything. This is why we're hated (however, it's jealousy, not hatred...that's why they come here on rafts) lol

    These little wars are stupid.

We need to leave iraq because nothing will ever progress from it, and it would be stupid to get involved in yet another pety squabble.

I really doubt China is that dumb to nuke anyone, all it means is for them to get nuked back and obliviated.

It wouldn't work, the citizens don't even know that they aren't free. Each house has no electricicty and portraits of the "leaders" hung everywhere, but that's like Christians putting up statues of Jesus. That's exactly how they want it. There aren't even any billboards in the country, period, just pictures of the leaders again.

We could go assassinate the leader, which would bolster the people. You can't instill democracy where it's not needed.

If you want to go blow up their nuclear silos then ok, but after that get the fuck out, you won't be replacing the regime in a place like that.
