I dont think that armor compares to any of the armos i listed.

40 defense, -4% damage taken will still never reduce as much damage as say the af+1. Maybe it can beat normal AF, but who knows, guess it depends on the atack of the mob.

Its good for the crazy resistance building PLDs (ala nins on tiamat). And there is always the perenial rumors about it having hidden effects like +attk and/or +crit hit rate. No truth to them yet.

I tested the armor for quite some time.

Ate MANY MANY MANY different types of foods and looked for any changes in attack/def/mp/hp/stats while engaged, while not engaged, while resting.... Different weapon types, different buffs.... Nothing.

It is exactly what it looks like, i decent resist build peice that happens to have some nice def too.

IMO this is the best bodypiece in the game for PLD because it has a lot of def.

Defense is clearly the best stat to build, since the difference between 500 and 700 defense is so massive, right.

um.. yes? idk about everyone else but I can tell when I forgot to hit Defender and that's only like +100 DEF or so. I don't eat food in Dyna just so I take damage and can actually heal myself for more hate. So yea, DEF is kinda nice, imo.
