The only LS that widely bots on my server have too many greedy members to get 25+ there, a lot of them are quitting. Gogo drama within the LS!

I fail to see how my real-life comparison is less valid (saying life is unfair) in your previous argument if you're willing to make this comparison.

To answer your question though, legally, you'll only be effected if said stolen items were given or sold to you when you knowingly take the items knowing they are stolen. Sure, they can still be confiscated from you by the police, but that's the risk you take buying goods from a less-than-normal source.

Compare this to FFXI. I don't go actively seeking out the bots in my linkshell. Distinctions abound.

Because you're a BST. If you go emo and leave, they won't care, as a linkshell can function without one. You have to take into account the particular people in the linkshell I'm talking about. He knows exactly what I mean.

Nothing against giving a E.Body to a BST, but with the tumultuous relationship between the allied linkshells, there's more emo contained within than a Green Day concert.

Well now that class is over, I'll actually do what I didn't do before. He wasn't necessarily equating his personal belief that windower is "just as bad" but rather pointing out that people who go "hey it's against the TOS" as their main point are full of shit because they don't actually care about the TOS (as long as someone who is breaking it isnt doing so in a way that directly fucks with others, hence my saying that being reported at all is subjective in of itself). If you wanna call him a dick or a game-hurting, shit-eating ne'er-do-well then feel free, but people who are hiding behind the TOS excuse are as full of shit as they accuse others whom are justifying something (or at least absolving themselves of guilt for doing so) because when they got there it was already happening. If you are going to tote the TOS bible, you are playing by SE's rules and SE's rules alone, and in their fucked up little world being able to see someone's TP is as punishable as botting. It's just that the former isn't as likely to be reported on in the first place so that's where a player's belief that it's beneficial keeps most people safe. On that note if every shell on a server is running something, there's less motivation to call a GM on someone else for doing it aside from wanting to be a raging dick, it goes under the same subjective scrutiny reporting someone for saying "START THE FUCKING SKILLCHAIN ALREADY" does.

I don't see how any of this is different from a basic prisoner's dilemna. The justification happens all the time in real life for engaging in a little price war at the expense of reduced profits. People would be better off with no one botting, but it really doesn't cause a big problem otherwise..

example: 20 fafnir/nid pops, 2 linkshells. Number of claims listed as (linkshell A, linkshell B)

no bot, no bot (10,10)
bot, no bot (19, 1)
no bot, bot (1, 19)
bot, bot (10 + loss of moral integrity, 10 + going on message board to complain of vaginal leak)

both linkshells would be better off not botting, but both linkshells have an incentive to move to bot at all different solutions. It really doesn't fucking matter.

The basic point is you only need like 2 out of 20 people in an LS botting to make it a necessity. I don't see why people get so pissed off at this fact. It would be a better outcome if no one botted, because then no one would complain (or get hacked or some shit from downloading bots) but what's the fucking point.

If you can't deal with the reality of why you need to bot, then go do other stuff in this game, or go ride your high horse off a cliff and kill yourself.
