Seriously, I'd call it a manticore if those weren't already in game. Maybe it's related to that monster unofficially dubbed "Chimera", but I'm not sure on that since chimera seems to be a family of monsters (Laminas and Puks and a few other things) in FFXI instead of a specific monster.

A chimera can refer to something that is composed of elements from multiple sources. That's essentially what the Greek Chimera was. IIRC, it had the head of a lion, body of a goat, wings of an eagle, and a snake as a tail. The picture really looks more like a demonic lion than anything else. Whoever posted the link to the Nemean Lion was on the right track I think.

My question, like before, is the wording of Seigan and Third Eye aren't very clear.

-While Seigan is in effect, the recast time for the Third Eye job ability will be decreased by half.
-The duration for the Third Eye ability has been reduced to 30 seconds, and the status icon has also been changed.

It honestly sounds to me, and this is what I was saying before too, that Third Eye was reduced to 30 seconds, and with Seigan up, its 15 seconds.

Doesn't make any sense to repeat the same thing twice wored differently independant of each other.

Yea, I would have even started calling it something similar to a Shishi, but Nemean lion looks like the closest relation.

Oddly enough, Nemean Lion was an offspring of Chimera from what I read. However, remember, "mistakes" have been made, as Kirin is not a dragon in the game.

I was under the impression Third Eye duration was like Counterstance? it wears right when it becomes available again.

At which point, we're basically talking about Utsusemi: Ichi if you were in full haste gear without that requirement, without requiring the nin subjob either.

SAM/WAR in Seigan mode gets the 15 second third eye, can wear full damage gear, etc. It sounds really good but a lot of it depends on how effective third eye is at actually blinking multiple hits.

Duration is how long the effect lasts (30 Seconds now for 3rd Eye)

Recast is how long until you can cast it again (1 min normaly/ 30 seconds with Seigan).

i say too little too late about the chime detect because it doesn't matter to me. it's a nice thing, but i just dont care about it. now if they say next update includes on screen distance, tp, mp, overlay map, and configurable GUI to allow separation of tell and linkshell chat (OH AND BUILT IN WINDOWER)... i'd be a little happy not to need to run addons.
