RMT was the problem then? Then if shit like this is insta-nerfed then the game is lost, no? They can't come up with something that isn't auto-wrecked by RMT and are unwilling to take the steps to ban them.

    Is the game lost?
Yes, it fucks over people who wanted to cycle through the Assault till hell froze over.

Yes, RMT was the problem. If it's repeatable constantly for any good amount of money, RMT's WILL wreck it. Guaranteed. A simple strategy would have (and will be) discovered eventually, the RMT's would have used it, and the farmfest would have begun.

FFS, even Blizzard knows better and put in instance limits.

Is the game lost? No. Sitting there and letting RMT's break the game one piece at a time would be a good start towards doing so, however. This was a weak point. It got patched. Why wasn't it done before? My guess is Atomos server doesn't have the playerbase to pump plenty of imperial currency into the AH, thus no ready supply of coin to farmfest the instance and the idea went WHOOSH over the heads of testers and S-E until it went live.

even Blizzard knows better and put in instance limits.
Yeah blizzard put an instance limit on large end game dungeons that have several bosses that each drop mulitple good r/e items plus drop some good AH loot along with the non-boss mobs that have drops as well.

Thats soooooo much like these missions.

WoW instance => lots of loot + several good armor or weapons

FFXI => couple of crafting items and a slim chance at 1-2 good items

Simply put this was a ass move by SE, and if it truely was to stop RMT from farming it, then they need to just give up now and legitimize RMT, bacause they are now fucking up the game for normal players inorder to fail at stopping RMT. If this is the point they have reached, where their efforts against RMT, are more important than the content being fun for real players, then as was stated, they have lost

I wonder if the new attachment prices will be grossly affected. I thought that after a few weeks they would be down to 500k. Granted, people can still do 3 a day so there is a good chance that people will continue to go often and more attachments will drop.

And the RMT's will be in it for the saleable items. That was the point here. RMT + farmable instance = Gil factory. That'd mean another poke in the eye for the economy. Glee.

RMT group flags multiple assaults (at once, since they could flag all three), does their runs, Warps back to Nashmau. Repeats, dropping saleables on AH as they go.

RMT gets readymade Gil supply as a result for as long as the market on saleables to holds up. This is the pack of geniuses that fishbot and spent months in Yughott Grotto desynthing silver rings/caps. You think this would have been any different?

Well, you honestly think real players are going to keep doing it? The draw in the first place was Babarossa Zerehs. The hella low drop rate on them, coupled with this nerf is just a huge cockblock to the people that wanted them, a R/EX item. The sellables wer a pretty sweet incentive for the people that would go help. Supply and demand would have evened out the price on the PUP stuff, Hydra scales, Cerb hides, and whatever else dropped. SE pretty much killed the legit playerbase doing this though. You can be all buddy buddy with yout pal and say you'll go for his Zerehs 'til the end, but it's not gonna happen for long at all with that drop rate. When you do get them for your friend, are you EVER going to go back? I highly doubt it.

Legit players, simply, won't be doing this in a month. SE fucking failed.

And his point was that they don't make enough of a profit compared to how much IS and gil they would spend flagging it multiple times. In effect this guts the people who were going for those matron knives and pants a lot moreso than the RMTs who want to gut prices of attachments.

Edit: And he wasn't making 3 mill every run, that's some bullshit considering the drop rate on that stuff.

Stop dropping stones and just add tanks would have been a lot better. But whatever, its an assault that is fun but doesn't have more rare/ex jobs that benefit all jobs, so don't really care.

edit: and RMT couldn't spam the hell out of this anyways. Either they would have to buy coins eventually or start xping a lot. Or massive RMT in Beseiged!

RMT cant "wreck" it if they dont have access to it. While getting ISP is easy for the regular player who goes meriting every now and then, its still not all that fast. And, to be brutally honest, anything that the RMTs can do that wont intefere with normal player's play is, on a whole, better than something for which they are in direct competition with other players over...

Do you think the fact that it is only doable once per day will change the fact that the market will bottom out? It doesnt change the end result, just the speed at which it is resultant.

Making it more painfully obnoxious to do makes it less accessible to the NORMAL player, not to the RMTer. The less normal players do it, the more the objects are worth when the RMT do it.

When it comes down to it, ISP is a finite resource, without putting in more time. Isnt that what SE wants, overall? There arent that many coins for sale, ISP doesnt come flowing in that quickly - they could have left it as it was and it would have become some thing that is great fun to do once in a while when you have the ISP built up to make it worth it.

The facts that make it less appealing to RMT, also make it less appealing to normal players. You know what? Lets just remove all gil from the game, make everyone run around naked wearing NPC bought non-magical weaponry and armour. There would be no space for the RMT, but then, there wouldnt be any players to RMT to either. BC's are the one place which RMTers can do and not totally interrupt the gameplay of other players. Sure, they might affect prices, but they already do on non-BC related stuff, that is something we are already used to. Atleast they cant actually stop us from PARTICIPATING in BCs in the first place.

obviously it wouldn't hold up. ultimately the beneficiaries will be people who sell the Gold Pieces (which can be basically everyone over Lv 60).

even without the time barrier, the saleables and the gold piece price will eventually have to level out.

people are only milking it for 1M+ because it's brand new.

when this was first added in the game http://ffxi.somepage.com/itemdb/6193

people paid 1M+ for it, than the KSNMs got farmed and now you NPC it.

the sellable items in this BC will eventually bottom out too where the price of Gold Pieces is not worthwhile unless you're in it for a chance at the Ex items.

Let's discuss that whole cost vs. reward thing. Imperial standing is meaningless, this is gilsellers. They're gonna use Gil to buy currency.

3 people, let's even say they only do #1 and #2. They walk up to the AH and buy a 3x 99 stack of bronze coins and 1x99 stack of silver coins. (470K on Ragnarok as of 10/24).

This is 11 runs for three people for #1, 33 runs for #2.

Now, in 33 runs of #1 and #2, could you make over 470K in items?

#3 runs 24K for three people to flag it on Ragnarok as of 10/24. Can you reasonably make > 24K on a single run of the third Assault?

Remember, time is hardly an issue. This is RMT. They're on 24/7.

    Worse for other jobs:

(panicing player): Shit, 30 minutes to drop these mobs. We need SAMs and NINs only! Fuck the DRG and we'll only invite DRKs with K. Clubs.
that will turn true, but still you can take the hard way and learn to have fun with jobs and tactics.
we beat mission1 after 4 runs because we refused to manaburn it and we stayed the job we were at first. NIN NIN DRK PLD RDM SMN, never had that much fun since harder CoP missions; needless to sat DRK was priceless with Stuns.

I couldn't care less if RMT farmed instanced content all day, every day.

The problem in FFXI is that RMT farm non-instanced content, cockblocking people at Ulli, KA, Cassie, etc.

the 470k and the 24k will both increase over time until the answers to both questions becomes. "if you're lucky".

Hot damn! Look at that money come rolling in. Almost any common drop from any repeatable BC is worthless for selling (even if it is good).
