Yah, based on the jobs too, unless someone specifically subbed /thf to SA, it sounds more like the timing of the pull attack then an actual SA /ja.Originally Posted by Raylinn

So then, will this work?
NIN NIN THF THF MNK WHM
THF ranged pulls each of the Windjammer Imps from the top of the entrance to the hold, out to the deck to kill. Rest of party remains outside to kill.
THF and a NIN go to the captain's quarters, waits for Bubbly to start running away from the captain while the captain is staring out the back window, then THF /ra's the captain.
NIN vokes Bubbly, kites Bubbly out to the rest of the party to kill.
THF that pulled captain stands at the top of the broken catwalk on the deck side (not captain's quarter side) while captain stays at the bottom of the hold, only using /RA.
PT finishes Bubbly, goes to kill captain.
3 chests spawn?
Amirite or am I missing something?
We've gotten the pants already from this BC, but we have one person that'd like the gloves.. and since we're farming this BC for two more pants, we may as well try for the gloves as well. Also, yoichi's sash.. is it only from the 2nd BC or obtainable from the 3rd?
Everything sounds right, only part we're all still not sure on is the actual pulling of the captain with his back turned. We know the monkey can't be close to him, but that only applies if you're running in to land the attack (we have confirmation from the above posted that a normal attack works just as well as SA). We don't know if using a ranged attack to get the captain also counts.
It sounds like getting the 3rd chest may just take not giving the captain aggro until you've killed everything else.
Aggro them all at once, not killing anybody before the captain aggros = 1 chest.
Gank imps, then aggro captain and pet before killing the monkey = 2.
Kill imps without aggroing pet, kill pet without aggroing captain, kill captain = 3.
That pretty much sums it up yeah.Originally Posted by Kyreth
You don't need to SA or w/e.. just pull it by surprise meaning the captain should be facing the window with his back turned to you. As for the Pet not aggroing, I'm not so sure. When my pt did this bc this morning, the RNG who pulled the pirate didn't use ranged attack. He was engaged @ the pirate and was waiting for the right time to pull it. When the time came, he simply ran towards the pirate and slapped it w/ his axe. After that we engaged the monkey while our RDM brought the pirate up on the stairs on the deck.
Got a Yoichi's Sash from tier 2 last night.
Didn't kill the boss, so just one chest.
Was concentrating on the win, since it was a first time run for 3 people.
Myself as THF with TH2 opened the chest. To note, I have opened most of the chests as THF, and this has been the first non-crap drop, that any run I have been on, has recieved. Just thought it might be worth noting, as SE did say in the BC announcement that the character opening the chest DOES effect the drops.

Ok yah, sorry, "Certain Conditions".
Not unreasonable to think that TH would possibly be considered in the application of these said "Conditions".
Hmm... I forgot about that. Anyone seen any possibilities for these "certain conditions"? Any theories?Rewards

Other than TH, which I'm not entirely certain would count as one of their "conditions". But its possible, I guess. I recall someone suggesting the jobs of the party might have been a factor, as well, though I don't know if that was ever proven or not.
Perhaps something you do during the BC has an effect on it?
or it could just be shitty translations and they meant to say "multiple treasures appear under certain conditions", cause you know....if you go by what that says, there should only be a treasure chest, aka: only one.
but I see three:

Yah, leaning towards Nynja's point now as well.
The conditions would seen to be the things such as Killing the boss/nm rather then ending the fight by other means (Tier 1 IMP NM-Tier2 time/vs nm death) to spawn additional chests.
Should likely read,The contents of this treasure will differ depending on certain conditions.
The rewards from these battles will differ depending on certain conditions.
That actually kinda makes me wonder.Originally Posted by Purplenv
Maybe the reason they cut it down to 1 a day is because there's some kind of trick to getting stuff to drop. Maybe even something as simple as the more people that can use xxx item, the better chance that item has to drop. Might be worht a shot.
If there really are conditions that affect the contents of the chests, as the notes say, then I'm leaning more toward an action you perform during the BC, rather than some passive trait like having certain jobs or your TH level.Originally Posted by Plow
A JP site listed Dragon Kote as a ??? gloves appraisal from a rank 6 assault, so it's fairly likely Ice Gauntlets will be either a rank 6 or 7 drop as well, being added at the same time and not having besieged: stats like the besieged nm drops do.Originally Posted by Corrderio
Ok, popped 3 chests on tier 3 tonight.
The course of action taken exactly, cause I was the THF pulling.
Enter BC
Pull closest imp to deck, and kill.
Pull second imp to deck, and kill.
All pt member go to the platform at the door to captains room.
I enter room, and inch close enough to engage the captain, but remain undetected.
Silent oil. (not sure if this is needed)
Sneak Attack preload.
Flee.
Tonko.
Wait for the monkey to be right behind the captain, and start running in for the attack.
The Monkey moves fast, and is moving away by the time I get there.
Sneak Attack is deffinately the first thing to happen.
The Captain aggrod, and I also aggrod the monkey before I was able to get far enough away.
Monkey was stripped off me, and killed, while I kited the captain on the main deck/upper deck area. Never losing hate. I did /ra him every once and a while, to ensure he never lost interest in me, but rarely actually hit him.
Kited the captain easily while evading his /ra untill the rest of the pt was ready.
Full attack, and the captain died.
3 chests materialized infornt of us.
That was all.
Exactly what part of that is 100% required, and which is just something that I did to make sure the 3rd popped is unknown to me, and I don't plan to test the minimum requirements. If I am in this fight, I will be THF, so I will always fill this roll.
GL to you all to figure out exactly what is required. It is deffinately the easiest of the 3 missions to get the 3rd chest. (atleast so far).
BTW, got all crap drops.
Do you remember the message you got when you hit the Captain with Sneak Attack ?
According to our thf, when you miss the Captain talk, and when you do it right it's the monkey ...
Also it not really make sense if having thf or /thf is the only way to get the 3rd coffer, maybe you just need to do an offensive JA while the Captain look away ? did anyone tried to pull it with Chi Blast ?
could you explain this again, please?Wait for the monkey to be right behind the captain, and start running in for the attack.

the purpose of letting the monkey "right behind the captain" is to not have it see you?
when you wrote "the monkey moved away" you meant it didnt spot you?
so basically you landed SA without taking ANY aggro and then both captain and monkey saw you?
The monkey is simply put, constantly on the move.Originally Posted by Tomino

I said it like this, because if you wait too long to approach the captain, you will have monkey aggro prior to the attack getting off.
My guess for the minimum requirements during this action would be a melee/close range attack, but not requiring a "Sneak Attack" job ability, per say.
To allow a ranged attack, or ability to initiate the 3 chest sequence would just make it to easy.
and yes, as I ran from the room, I had the boss, and the monkey following me due to my actions. I'm gonna assume its impossible to exit without monkey and boss aggro if its done right.
as THF/NIN in evasion gear, and a earth staff, it was easy to kite the captain solo around the upper deck area. I evaded over 60% of his ranged attacks.
Did 2x Tier 3 last night.
Popped 3 chests each time.
??? Box
??? Gloves
& the default win chest full of the normal junk.
This was the result each time.
Gloves #1 = Cotton Gloves
Gloves #2 = Leather Gloves
I would assume if I had any luck at all, those would have turned into Barb. gloves.
??? Gloves is not always the result from the 3rd chest, as I have also gotten 2, ???Box's from the 2 bonus chests on the same run.
Just thought I would post this up for all the COR out there looking to get their CFG-1.
Am I missing something? I though you could only do one every 24 hours??Originally Posted by Purplenv
