You flag one the day before, but don't do it. Then after you complete that one 24 hours or more later, you can go back to Nashmau and re-flag to go back again. Its basically just like when you do assault and can grab an "extra" tag by snagging one a day earlier.
i think they buffed the captain ;o
lol since when?
He's was cake to kite 24 hours ago, and no more difficult to kill then any of our prior runs.
Maybe you just got unlucky?
hmm maybe, havent done a run in about 2 weeks, pulled the 2 imps out so he was facing the window, pulled him and he was running, he used to never be so fast
btw anyone have luck w/ the 3rd chest thing?
The captain can rip anyone a new asshole if you're not careful in how you handle him. I've had a few pushover runs, and a few other runs where I've been beaten to death before I could run away after looking at my ichi/ni recast timers.Originally Posted by Slott
eh its not like we hadnt done it before, we were trioing it non stop for weeks, just never saw him run before. Usually he was pretty slow, this time he was sprinting after our blm
Sprinting? I haven't seen that yet, hmm. Guess I'll have to watch out for that next run, but I've done at least one post-maintenance where it hasn't hauled after anyone...
yeah normally he was slow as shit, kind of doing the walking/skip sorta thing, but this time he was like bubbly's run speed....took us by surprise is all ;/
Same thing happened to us yesterday, he moved at a much quicker pace. He is still easy to kite though. The first of two tries yesterday we pulled the monkey first, as we always had, but the captain followed all the way up to the top. We had to kite him while we killed the monkey.
The second try we figured we might as well try the same method described earlier where you surprise the captain without the monkey seeing. A nin with powder boots worked just fine and we got 3 chests to pop. Our setup is usually Nin, War, Blm, Whm. Still only 1 pair of pants, I think we are 1/15 or worse so far.
So now that everyone has had a good deal of time to whore this BCNM, what's the verdict on your Zerehs drop rate? I'm currently only 1/19 (we got our first drop on our 11th run)...
in like 20 runs i've never seen any pants come out of that BC -.-
I think with the now proven method of popping 3 chests for the tier 3 battle, any drop rate data should be qualified with how many/which runs 3 chests vs 2 chests (would really have to try hard to only pop 1 chest) were popped.
My group has seen ZERO pants drop from tier 3 (6 runs total).
3 runs have resulted in 3 chests,
3 runs prior resulted in 2 chests.
but, at the same time, the one time we did recieve a Yioshi Sash was on tier 2, with only 1 chests popped. (We failed to defeat the NM on that run)
So, deffinately 2 and 3 chest pops are not Required, but its reasonable to think that it will effect the drop rate over time.
alright, learned some info.
If you surprise him, he runs fas as shit.
If you split off bubbly, kill bubbly, he goes back to slow as shit mode when you pull him again (but sacrifice the 3rd chest)
Enjoy![]()
BS, just kited a 3 chest win easily as THF, still slow as ever.
Late nin edit: Didn't even have to recast utse. once on the entire kite run, including the WHM resting to regain some mp.
then wtf is with him sprinting sometimes on pull when he gives msg and other times just walkswas in same bc even
We're at 1/16 or so for the pants so far. Still waiting for the 2nd pair. We're 1/5 or so on the Barbarossa Moufles.
Just to clarify on the whole varying speed thing...
I usually do the tier 3 with 4 people (SAM, RDM, NIN, NIN), and he moves slow enough that he was easy to kite.
Yesterday, we tried doing it with 5 (add WAR/NIN to above setup), and the first thing the usual captain kiter notices was that he was moving somewhat faster.
That and poor planning resulted in our group wiping at like 20% or so (adding more melee to the equation really ended up with more liability...especially if the said melee is generating more hate than both of the NIN and wasted a lot of the RDM's MP)
Anyway, today we were goning to do it with 4 people, but one person DC'd, and we decide that we should try it with 3 people.
Since we don't really care about exp, and it's better than wasting a chance, we went in with RDM/WHM, NIN/WAR, and MNK/NIN.
We decide to forsake the glove box and pull Bubbly first (we usually use a kiter for the captain, but clearly we don't have enough body for kiter)
Unfortunately, the captain linked, so the RDM tried to kite him.
Much to our surprise, the captain seem to move much slower, to a point where the RDM loses hate without the captain going out from the cabin. And we were able to kill Bubbly without much trouble.
When we decide to fight the captain, it was quite annoying to get him into the main deck (bigger room for running away when out of shadow/kite recovery) because he was moving so slow with gravity that he'd lose hate when you move too far.
Didn't have much problem with the captain with just 3 people. We managed to finish the BC in 25 mins (had to kite once for recovery/convert timer)
I wouldn't say it was easier with 3 people, but it wasn't nearly as hard as I'd imagine it would be (As opposed to 4.) I'm pretty sure you can get the 3rd box as well by surprising the captain and losing hate since he moved so slow.
After tonight's run, I believe that the amount of people entering the BC determines the captain's speed...though I don't notice any change in difficulty beyond that (the captain seem to have lower defense, though he hits hard as usual)
My last 3, Tier 3, attempts have been with 6 people in pt, one being just last night. (Yes, I know taking 6 is extreme overkill)
As stated, kiting was cake. No speed issue. (no I don't use Striders)
I guess the captain does move faster if you are executing the 3 chest method, (nothing to do with number of people in the BC) but I still fail to see why there is a problem at all, with any job kiting this. (although, I guess I may take my capped THF evasion with full evasion gear allowing me to comeplete avoid all his /ra attacks)
Went on two runs tonight expecting drop since we haven't gotten one since 11th... No luck, 1/21 now ><
