Nah seriously Seigan is nice but I just love seeing job abilites associated with sam main job finally besides Third Eye and Meditate. I may actually be able to merit outside of LS parties...nah who am I kidding, /em sees if there are any BRD so he can form a party.

I experimented with it last night on my 45 SAM in an xp party against IT stuff in the Nest. Basically, there'd be a point every fight where the NIN tank could no longer get hate back, so I'd throw up Seigan + Third Eye and see what happened. I'd say the results were pretty impressive.

I think what makes this so useful is the fact that SAM already has several ways to block damage. While I had hate, I was parrying, evading, and countering all over the place, and on average I'd say Third Eye lasted 3-4 swings. Only one time did I have it wear off after one swing with Seigan up, and a couple of times I got to 5-6. Counter rate, to give a rough estimate, was probably about 15%. While Third Eye doesn't make you unhittable, SAM is no longer a MP sink once they get hate. I'd generally only get hit 2-3 times between Third Eye recasts, if that.

20 seconds would definitely be worth doing, 25 seconds though might not be worth giving up 10 Store TP.

Thats what I was going for. Anybody with 1 merit in it tell if its 28s of 29s the recast with seigan ? (Still speculation untill someone tests it)

Lithiani on KI tested it with one point, dropped to 29s.

I put 1 merit into Third Eye. With Seigan up, the Third Eye recast is now 29 seconds. So, pretty much as anticipated, Third Eye Merits are calculated before Seigan is.

Yeah, I did... still, IMO, the best use of that merit spot, as I don't need 5/5 Store TP for a 6/100 build

my friend Luftig claimed to have gotten 12 anticipates in dynamis, I said he was full of it, but my brother who was there testified it to be truth...I have personally seen no higher than five...

I am currently dicking around with the posibility of sam/war as a legit tank (arhat's and gavial sets)...phailed hard core on a DC leech though :S

The chance of it wearing off is time-dependant, so Dynamis MNKs will get you a whole lot of anticipates within a short space of time.

I played around as SAM tank last night in my Kuftal PT (52~54). The PLD was shit, so it was sorta 'forced' onto me to tank (even with a SATA off the bat I still tanked most fights). I'm sure It's possible to tank with Seigan+3rd eye once you get access to Arhats, but I don't think it's going to be as effective as PLD or NIN (obviously). This does add another Lv of play so if in the even that you do pull hate, you dont get ass rapped and become an MP sponge.

The most I've seen so far was a string of 5 anticipates/counters before it was removed. It does seem random and I'll get a single anticipate 3 seconds after using 3rd eye, and that sucks. But all in all this is a nice addition and adds a lot more gameplay style for a skilled SAM (or atleast one that knows how to use buffs properly).

Seigan is great for me until my sam is 60 and can TA the hate im getting onto someone.

I was xping in CN last night on rumble crawlers @43->45 and we were often doing a SC on the them right when they go to camp because I could use seigan and get 3-4 anticipations in a row before it would turn away from me.
Once the mob loses interest I just use Hasso until the next ws.
Really helped with speeding up kills since my sc partner and I didnt need to wait until 2nd voke or some shit and be sitting on 150% tp instead of going whenever we both just hit 100%. Sam isn't really a tank with this ability, it just lets you get away with pulling hate more and not soaking mp.

Trying to ws with hasso on its sometimes tricky to throw up seigan before the mob turns around to chew your head off. When its laggy I just use seigan before ws to avoid timing issues.

Hasso is also highly entertaining. Hasso + Berserk + Warcry + Overwhelm + Dual Minuets = Win
