I once had a boyfriend who promised he didn't cheat on me.
So, yeah... I'm guessing your friend stretched the truth a little.

As you couldn't have watched him play 24/7/365, you have no idea of your friend was 100% legit or not. And really, SE can ban you for Windower use only if they really, really want to.Originally Posted by Miji

It's amazing how much they differentiate each message from the previous one.
This message made it sound more like police and a speed trap, rather than a long investigation. I wonder if they monitored certain zones (Hall of the Gods for example) and watched (not literally but with a program) for pos'ers.
POL is pleased to announce that over 1,200,000 players have been banned in an attempt to stop all gil sellers server wide.
Yep you guessed it! If we ban everyone but the gil sellers we fix the RMT menace, also thanks for playing FFXI for so long... we only made $88.2 million dollars profit from this game
Any questions or idea's please contact our help desk at http://www.rmtonline.com/ffxi-rmt.htm
old news, but good job on the effort they are putting to clean up the game. My only question though is the last part of the post where they say if affected users contact the Playonline Support Center, they will be unable to discuss or revert the Account Admin's decision. Kinda lacking customer service or right to appeal, but that's SE I guess..
Reminds me of one of my old friends. His character got banned for speed hacking. He opened a new account re-lvled smn to 75, re-did everything including missions and quests. As far as I recall he learned his lesson and refrained from using tools, yet got banned again![]()

Also, for all those people who have a 'legit' friend who got banned but doesn't use hacks, more than likely they did something with someone who DID hack. Ex: You go with another person to duo some ENM, and your friend POS kites a mob around while you damage the mob. Yes, YOU didn't hack, but you saw someone hacking, you were associating with that person, and you were benefitting from their actions. THIS WILL GET YOU BANNED JUST AS QUICKLY AS IF YOU WERE HACKING YOURSELF!
So to not get banned, don't POS, don't team up with people who will be POSing to win a fight/claim.
QFT. With ffxiah you can monitor for your self that there is a decreasing ingame economy. This is the one sign, no matter how many RMT are still on, which shows that SE's efforts are having some kind of effect.Originally Posted by Kyreth
Since July when they started banning people or suspending them.
1. Banned between 1400-3k accounts every month since. Going to keep happening until players play right, will it happen probably not.
2. Those that were suspended in July/August, that was your warning but they probably continued using 3rd party, etc. now they are banned.
3. All servers economies are now back to pre-05' levels, but only problem now is more crafters at 100 so to me it's alittle to late, but game is still fun.
4. Those that come here and bitch and whine you have been banned. You have had to do something.
I used fleetool occasionally. For dynamis when dcking around, etc. Anyway, I finally got caught the other day; oh well, first warning. I got back on at 3am this morning, checked ah and choco, and logged out. Got back on at 11am, and I'm suspended again. No, I didn't fleetool from the sandy AH to the choco stables. Seems like they just make a list of people that they catch, and re-suspend them? I have no idea. I talked to 2 diff GMs and the POL help center, and all are worthless, naturally. So, no ffxi for 4 more days. /sighOriginally Posted by Aodh
People won't stop using it till it doesn't work. If fleetool just quit working one day, I wouldn't give a shit. I've now deleted that crap, since I have my 1 warning, oh well. And just for the record, I'm not bitching and whining, just trying to figure out how they compile their list.Originally Posted by Dbill
Banning fails, SE missed all the major rmt on carbuncle.
No worries though, I won't be fleetooling in dynamis anymore though, the world is saved.Originally Posted by Lordender
I think that 'getting caught red-handed' can get you suspended/banned by a GM. I think these monthly bannings are triggered more by some automated tool that flags your character via some in-game trigger.
Kinda makes me worry about going as nin/brd for boots + raptor mazurka.
The RMT Okote campers on Alexander vanished. There's now a new person there, and an assload of anon people doing 60 cap.
Well, movement enhancers work on chocos now, and I accidentally set the record at like 22 min for sandy>windy (usually I'm around 27, but I forgot to turn mazurka off, whoops). I guess that could have been a trigger, but that happened over a month ago.Originally Posted by Tordall
Yeah, that's pretty much what I mean.
E.g. if you get 'flagged' by the automated tool, it just saves up your offenses and then at the end of the month it dumps out everyone flagged by the automated tool more than x-times.
OR the GMs review everyone that flagged the tool just before the ban, so you can get caught for something you did a months ago.
I'm kinda surprised that being suspended doesn't get rid of hte flag. I guess I should be happy that I'm only lm17, since I guess it's 2 different offenses.
Maybe when you got busted, they looked into your account, saw prior suspicious activity, and suspended for that afterwards.
