    Dusk feet, hi.
Own em, tend to switch between the two depnding on if I'm stalling or not, more often keep my AF+1 feet on because blinking between the 2 can get my shit stomped at inopportune moments and 2% haste is likely to save my life less often than just shielding the incoming smack to the face and continuing my cast, how ya doin?

Once again, it's funny how you completely ignore the part I quoted.
I completely agree that the AF1+1 feet are useful, but when you have shadows up, theres no need for them. This is why SE put gear swaps into the game. Shadows up, haste+enmity gear is on, shadows down, shield skill+-dmg gear is on... It really brings a new aspect to the game.

it also pisses off your WHM something fierce if you're swapping gear every 8-10 seconds

Not hard to have another macro set for HNMs, if that's your main tank that's blinking every 10 seconds or so, cure macros can be adjusted. That's what, 2 minutes of work?

As someone who tanks alot, I can agree with Ryko on the fact that you don't want to be blinking more than you have to, it's just an unnecessary risk.

WHMs in our LS can attest that both Ruke and I blink for just about every single little change in the fight and they've all gotten used to it and have no troubles. So, I'm sorry if your mages can't keep you alive while you change gear to take the least possible damage during an attack.

Nothing wrong with /ta "Rukeshin" macros

Considering it's entirely likely that your WHMs only -need- to target you and him throughout the course of the day and they could very well just set their single target macros to "Blackice" or "Rukenshin" I don't see that being out of the question. In a shell where it's likely the tank at an event changes pretty much on the fly the only WHM I know that will guaranteed save me in a pinch if I'm blinking in and out is my 2 boxed WHM. Meo used to be able to blink every second if he wanted to when he was tanking 90% of our events too

Also, of the 3 WHMs I regularly do any event with, 2 couldn't see an effect on me to cast a -na spell fast enough to save my ass if it were detrimental. Last jailer of faith I'd be like "Stoned" and apparently the WHM didn't even see the effect land for about another 5 seconds >_>

I think im the only person in this game that uses <p0>~<a25> macros instead of <t>. More WHMs need to atleast use <p0>~<p5>, it makes life so much easier.

Ya that sucks hardcore, and I used to be one of those idiot rdms who didnt -na people properly, but what i've done over time was just memorize mob moves, and get them done instantly, like when dealing with radiant breath, the only time someone's going to be silenced for over a millisecond is if i'm in the middle of casting another spell.

That's how most of our faster status removal people are, on my WHM I set 2 of each "essential" alt-tab macro and just change the name inside. So I'll have like "Cure V" Rykoshet and "Cure V" Tensaiji, the same for viruna or paralyna or stona. It's my WHM on lazy, otherwise I have a normal set of macros where it subtargets people.

    ::clears throat::

No we still fucking hate it when you guys blink. We just deal. I also tend to know when you guys blink so I can time it so that I don't hit you when you do blink. However it still happens. The worst timing is when you blink right at the beginning of the cast and it bounces back on the mage.

I don't actually use /ta "Name" macros any more or <pn>. <pn>/<an> don't work anyway when you're out party anyway.

I prefer not to have to use 2 macro pallets for actual spell casting, which would be necessary in order for me to have

    /ma "Cure V" Rukenshin
    /ma "Cure V" Blackice
    /ma "Cure V Danerys"

    or whoever macroed in individually

Assume 3 tanks in a tank party and only using Cure III and Cure V.
3x Cure III macro + 3x Cure V macro + non targeted cure macros for Cures III, IV, and V. That's 9 macro slots alone just for Cures which doesn't leave you with much room for other things.

It's also incorrect that WHMs should only preferentially have macros for tanks. If a RDM or BRD needs a large cure on a HNM, the should NOT do it themselves as they tend to gain hate much faster than a WHM so self curing is not ideal. The WHM should cure them. In most situations I don't consider it acceptable to take the time to type out:

    /ma "Cure V" Bard

They could be dead at that point. I want the macro.

Therefore, I just keep my /ma "Cure V" <t> macros.

There are exceptions: In a situation like meleeburn Kirin, we generally assign one WHM per heavy DD and they blink a lot. In that case, it's worth it to write the name in. I also use specific name targetting for powerleveling or when I use my WHM mule in Dynamis. I have:

    /ma Haste Name (x3/4)
    /ma "Cure III" Name (x3/4)
    /ma "Cure V" Name (x3/4)

but that's just beacuse I know I'm 2 boxing and would just rather hit a macro then have to pay too much attention to that character's screen.

Every melee I know with a high level mage mule seems to think that it's the way to go to have specific name macros, but really if your main job is WHM it's really not practical. Because OMG I'm not always curing you!

Everyone has to come up with a setup that's comfortable for them of course. Name macros are really great for some purposes but a not ideal for everyday use.

With my named macros it's only for cases where I have to 2 box, otherwise I heal with subtargets and just use a controller. It wasn't so much my saying that WHMs always do it, but that should one wish to circumvent a loss of target and they only deal with 2-3 tanks for like... weeks then it's not entirely out of the question as a way to bypass a tank blinking out a WHM trying to clutch cure them.

Exactly, it's really great for 2 boxing but I don't use it on my main except in the situations I described before.

Anecdote! The very first named macro I ever had was:

    /ma Blindna Rukenshin

Back when he was only a RNG and we camped Faf/Nid every day. He would ask me to Blindna him no matter what party I was in because he would never get it and was (believe it or not) on the poor side (no eye drops). I just made the macro so every time he would wing I just hit it. Then he leveled NIN and got hit with the nerf bat. Macro got changed to Flash!

But yeah, the waist and feet slots just really confuse me there... Otherwise, pretty sweet gear. Oh, and personally, I'd use Trance Belt on /WAR, but I guess thats a preference call too.
Only actually got the mask recently, and I've been switching around a lot between turban and mask depending on what I'm tanking and the circumstances I'm tanking it (this is /nin, of course). For instance, if I were stalling Khimaira, turban beats the shit out of mask because the enmity is pointless, but if 20 minutes or so later I've got SAMs SA+Gekkoing and I'm co-tanking with other tanks, the enmity is a lot better. At that point the only time you'd ever really be taking hits is after Dreadstorm/Thunderstrike so getting timer'd is never really an issue, but the enmity is, and that's just one mob.

Dusk feet is actually 3 things: 1) Too poor to actually buy them, yes, lol. 2) Lotting with one other person for next homam feet, and 3) I'm not entirely convinced 2-3% haste on your feet beats 12 shield skill, especially when you're stalling, low-balling it in terms of numbers, or just in general. The haste helps with flash and other recasts, sure, but blinking in and out proves to be frustrating to a lot of mages, and instead of making sure I'm cool and blinking in and out for every action taken, I'd rather skip the very slight benefit to recasts and make it easier on someone else. Obviously there's the fact you'll shield proc during ichi too, and 12 shield skill seems a considerable enough boost to warrant using them to have an impact on that. This isn't to say if you've got a lot of people at an HNM and you're taking it down quickly that the extra haste for hate for flash and ichi tools isn't still great, because it is, but again, just waiting on the homam feet and couldn't really afford dusk in the interim anyway.

Waist, well, you've got me there. Not enough time/too lazy to get a group for swift belt, and trance belt's like a mil or someshit for 1 more enmity.

The quest for better gear is never finished, of course. Unless you're Ryko's DRK or someshit, but even then where's the fucking armada hauberk.

The way I see it, it's pretty simple.

I used to blink out a lot. I died because of it on many occasions. On the other hand, however, I've never died solely because I DON'T swap out shit that's only minimally more useful.

My oh-shit-utsu-is-down macro switches Cerberus Mantle for Shadow Mantle, and Harmonia's Torque for Shield Torque. That's the only swap I do.

    Trance has +4 enmity, Warwolf has +3. 4 > 3
