ok, now, this was kinda spur of the moment, but i just tanked seiryu from 50%, right after hundred fists, to 0%, again, as sam/war, this time i did use my saotome haidate (gonna stick with myochin haidate +1 from now on though), things got a little hairy when dispelling wind took both seigan and third eye, but over all, thanks to a wonderful support team, i have to say, sam tank is something to seriously look into

    Ummn

    8) Guys, with the recast times of hasso and seigan, and their inability to stack and them overlapping each other I suggest you guys try and pop Hasso when you want to cast something.

Once your done casting pop Seigan. Seigan doesnt increase the timers of spells with timers up. True, you'll be caught with your pants down for a couple of seconds but when casting something quick like Stun as some have suggested, you should be fine. Also, you might want to try relic/relic+1 pants with Seigan for some multi counter fun. I wish SE would make it so counters give us tp....

Both Hasso and Seigan nerf /recast timers of all spells, songs and ninjutsu. You have to click whichever one you have up off, in order to cast without the extended /recast time.

And a 1 minute re-use timer on Seigan in a factor when dealing with a the /recast of Stun, which (fully Hasted) is around half that.

You tanked Seiryu how?...you kidding me?

Seiryu spams TP, and his auto TP rate is insane....Fang Rush would one shot a SAM.....hell ive seen him use 2 fang rush in a row....not to mention the dispelling wind spam...which means you will never have defender...or any other buff....so your pathetic level 75 SAM no defender defense is gonna let you survive vs him how? He is gonna hit you for 250 or more...probably 300 maybe 400..definitely that high on crits..

As for Behemoth LOL...its Behemoth...give me a break..Behemoth is weaker than exp mobs... at 75

Awww yep your right lol! But you can still cancel Seigan before you cast your Utsusemi's and then recast it if they are both on cooldown and then TE, if you time seigan right with your utsu casts and make sure TE is also on cooldown when canceling seigan you should have endless shadows. If you find that mobs are eating up your shadows you need some more mitigation gear (evasion/evasion skill & parry.) How about that! RAWR

I remember once long ago, I was solo stun on Genbu as SAM. Always proc'd, and seemed to build decent hate as well, as once after a 0 damage Hobaku, he turned on me and knocked my head off

I really hate dying to Slowbu, for me it allways seems like it's his Aqua Breath, I never resist it.

And yes, Status effects of all type build a shitton of hate. Spellcasters get especially emo if you Gekko them (Silence proc).

    Apparently its not yours....

Lets see this guy said thanks to a strong support team he pulled it off and sam is a great tank or something.......translationt to me means..he got Cure V bombed and didnt' get fang rusehd for more than his hp...how is that tanking? idiot...or maybe they had 5 stunners in the alliance and just stun locked it? Its pretty obvious to me...that a SAM/WAR witn no buffs can't stand up to Seiryu.....not sure how he held hate either..

It seems that it's another case of SE intending something for survivability and players using it for tanking. I say try it! I've used it with success to stay alive at Chlevnik and Fafhogg, and against EM mobs in Uleg. Range, but I'd like to try to experiment more to see if the amount of attacks you anticipate really is random or if there's some possible way of being able to predict how well it's going to work.

Maybe its just me..but I have seen PLDs eat 1300 or more Fang Rush from Seiryu after Dispelling Wind has removed all their buffs....I really don't see a SAM who will likely have less hp standing up to that output of damage..not to mention that probably getting hit for 300-400....is gonna make you lose hate pretty damn fast..

My only guess is his support team..staggered stuns nonstop...and he was Cure V bombed and lucky enough to not take a fang rush to the dome.

I'd rather see a BRD/NIN tank really, and Samurai is one of my loved jobs, and I tank a lot of shit on WAR. SAM tanking would be fun in low pressure situations though for sure and I'd love to try it sometime.

I think the problem is you're basing these numbers off a SAM who pulled hate in DD gear; what about a SAM that was geared for DEF/VIT/dmg%-?

If the SAM had a damage down setup probably would get hit for around 200 which is more manageable..but then the question is how would they hold hate? Im just guessing blind here as Im not there and dont see how it could be done....making a statement like I tanked Seiryu without offering lots of supporting evidence leads to questions from me....cause im curious...gear setup? he said suppport...what kind of support stun lock? cure V bomb? ppl TAing him?
If you have to stun lock, cure V bomb and TA him how is that a good tank? Sounds like a lot of wasted effort

    BRD/NIN ive seen tank....Fafnir...Tiamat....

These jps on my server always do it...

NIN/BRD is viable now toot hanks to lol Raptor mazurka....it generates insane hate..after a whiel even pld cant pull it off a NIN/BRD.....just ask Linsivi
