Quick question from a parser nub:

Do you have to have everything unfiltered for parsers to work or can you run one and get accurate data recording with chat filters on?

Any information that is filtered out will not be considered by the parser. It only knows about things that you can personally see in your chat log.

I dl'ed the 7.05 one on the Windower page, but in the list of WS's it has all of the archery ones, but none of the Marksmanship ones, anyone have any experience with this?

This parser doesn't parse chat logs does it? :/

I use that as much as I use it for meriting. When I bazaar over night etc.

Java's an pretty good languauge, it's just that the Java VM is slow as molasses, and the dev tools aren't that great.

Assuming that it really is clean (not to be insulting towards you in any way, but it is the internet so... yeah), thanks a lot for the update. I've been using/living off the parser since like a few days after it was released who knows how many years ago now, and after it broke I thought I'd never be able to use one again.

Between all the people trying to steal content IDs and such now and getting hacked, etc, didn't think there'd be any kind of safe alternatives or anyone willing to go out of their way to fix it and publically release it.

But yeah, just to be on the safe side, any confirmations yet?

its been scanned, nothing going on that Ive found, its all over the windower forums as well, F-Secure says its clear
whats funny is the previous parser was not, this version has all the naughtys removed. dont remember where the thread was, but the original parser by spyle had a few backdoors in it

Gee, because it provides you with concrete results on YOUR OWN damage, so you can tweak gear sets and play sytles and see how things work out?? It's not just used for comparing yourself to other people....lot's of folks on these forums don't even parse the rest of the party members, just themselves.

How else can you tell that spending xxx gil on that uber item was worth it or if you should sell it back?

If people would like a fixed exploitfree version here's a fix to spyle's.

It includes the source, if you have VB6 just open it up and compile. If you do a DIFF with the original source off spyle's webiste, there should be like 2-3 lines changed. Namely the IGE ads, and a line of code to change the new format into the old format.

only way to really know it's clean is to read the source and build it directly from that... isn't it?

you could wrap your own keylogger into the program and no virus-scan would pick it up because the ID isn't in the database to be recognized. A software firewall like zonealarm might block outgoing traffic though if it were to be like most keyloggers and push the logs through email as attachments to a pre-specified addy.

I think there's a certain amount of trust you have to have in people that write these programs.

Anyway, I think that ffxiparser might be broken again. Last night the guy with the ridill didn't have the highest average damage in the party. Pretty sure that's not supposed to happen, after all it's the omgwtfbbq of weapons.
