English language improvment

If you don't know what's going in, it's a lot harder to remember how to spell / use a tense IMO.

watching TV is going to help you spell a lot less than reading a book.

oh I know, I wasn't trying to argue about this or anything ^^
Just going from my own personal experience in learning a language I wasn't even raised in ^^

I agree with untouchable also, but even sometimes on TV you'll hear slang instead of proper English :D
I never went to American schools and when I took a test here for a college, the only reason they knew I was foreign was because of my name ^^

When I first moved out here I had the worst accent ever ._. and now, about 3-4 years later I'm being told you can barely hear any accent anymore :D

So yeah, for me the best way to improve my English overall was just hearing it day in day out and cleaning up grammar in class :D

in korea, some students (the ones that actually study) in high school know better grammer, spelling, sentence layout than high schoolers over at america. the difference in standard is so huge, its pretty sad hehe
...but when it comes to listening and speaking they suck hardcore

listening to stuff helps a ton, whats the point of knowing the language if you cant use it to speak and interact? if a foreigner wans to learn english, or any other language, i think id recommend tv/movies/songs > books
