I never got into the .hack series because it was too long, the next sequel came out before I was finished with the first and so on, etc... I couldn't keep up and it made me mad..

I liked the anime though

also, XII comes out Tuesday lol

Its much better than the other .hack PS2 games, and a must if you want to know about the rest of the Roots, XXX, CELL, etc series.

Yeah the games act like it's an MMO and the anime(s) somewhat follows that.

Well a MMO with some dark complex AI that has the power to put people into comas, at least the first series. GU is like the "second" series.

I watched all the original .hack stuff (//Sign, //Liminality, //Legend), played the PS2 games etc...Was fun for what it was at the time. Then just recently watched the .hack//roots series which finished airing a few weeks ago and was seriously dissapointed. It takes place before the new games in terms of storyline, like //Sign was to the original PS2 games, but in my opinion //roots was nothing compared to //Sign. //Sign at least made me want to see what happened in the games. //roots left me wondering why I should care :/.

Actually the first PS2 games took place years before //SIGN.

As for the //GU games, i'd really like to see what they're like but since i don't speak Japanese and i didn't even check if they're already released in the US...

But yeah, these do take place after //Roots. And they seem way better than the first games, which were kinda boring after doing all the same things over and over in the same dungeons with not many abilites etc...

I really want to try the //GU games when they get released in europe of if i get the US version.

Actually, no. //SIGN was the story arc that covered events leading up to Aura's awakening, and the PS2 games take place after her awakening and her enslavement by Morganna.

That site is a good source in general for anything .hack, ive been editing it for quite some time now and been all about the .hack series, and theres stuff on that site that still surprize me.

Well //DUSK is not really important in the storyline but it's still a pretty funny show. I consider it more like a parody-like spin-off of the main project.

It had a couple decent moments with the A.I. stuff towards the end, but other than that it pretty much failed I thought.
