There will be a bit of inflation, but nothing like last year.
Prices were like they are on my server last year too. Xmas came, bam, people began quitting cause of prices.Originally Posted by Daahan

the major inflaction we're having right now comes, imho, from ppl quitting while few new players are getting in the picture. the Xbox360 release had had a minor impact on servers (many already quitted) not like the EU release did almost two years ago.
in time, everyone will have a SH and no newbie will be interested in buying one because there won't just be a newbie anymore.
I sold my Black Cloak for 2M on Shiva, and then brought it back a few months later for 200k. :D <3 x-mas. Weskits went up to about 20M LOL. This year I'm just going to rape all my BLM gear for massive profits and play in AF till March.
there'll be newbies, just that our standards will rise for gearOriginally Posted by Tomino
I'll be the first to say it.

I think the were considering it under the part of the TOS that says something like "if you find an exploit in the game you should report it immediately, and leave it alone/not exploit it." While it's easy to argue that "I didn't know it was an exploit, I just thought the NPC wanted to buy back his item for more than he's selling it for!", I think, given the obvious results that could/did come of it, it's pretty evident right away that it's not SUPPOSED to be like that, and it is in fact a mistake/exploit.Originally Posted by phirien
That wont happen again. You can decent BLM gear from assault this year for 20k points and last year you couldnt. Inflation wont happen again like last year. The game has changed alot since last year and I dont expect a major price hike like last year.Originally Posted by spooky
At least its a change from the same damn music we hear all year. ;/ps: I personally hate the jeuno christmas music tbh![]()
I would've thought it was miss interpretation. An exploit to me would be the AV wall trick, or let's say, falling under the ground to avoid aggro or whatever. I didn't know of the Barone thing at the time, but if I was able to buy them and sell them back, I would've done so until I was as rich as everyone else who did it. My defense, if it's possible in the game, it's not cheating. Tough luck to those who got banned, kudos to those who got away with it.Originally Posted by Alastaire

Oh, you see it coming too? i'm buying what I need, and i'll sell it if the price raises atleast 50%.Originally Posted by Blueshawk

Have you noticed how there's 10-20+ autumnstones in rolanberry all the time lately? Not to mention that while they were 20m about 3 months ago, then 10m about 2 months ago, then 7m about a month ago, and now about 5m each...
Did it ever occur to you that rmt just aren't making as much money? That these bans really might be eliminating huge amounts of gil?
I mean if gil is $5/mil, and a SH is 20 mil, that's theoretically $100 bucks the rmt can make per v claw. If gil is $25/mil, and a SH is 4m, that's still $100 per v claw.
It's not like it somehow helps rmt to dramatically raise prices, unless they can get gil to remain stable while item prices rise, which, clearly, they can't. If gil is $25/mil, and a sh is 20m, that's $500 per vclaw... but nobody's going to pay that. (Well ok some people but not enough to sustain a multi-billion-dollar company's interest.)
prices may increase slightly, but i highly doubt it because of everyone trying to make mad cash again this year.Originally Posted by HAcoreRD

Furthermore, the people who make the gil and the people who hold the gil to sell are often different sets of people.
Skipping ahead. I'm banking on the inflation this year. I have some nice items that could sell for a reasonable amount now that will sell for a whole lot better after inflation. Then I'll be rich, rich as nazi's.
Actually this Christmas can really interesting.
After witnessing last years price-spike, I'm pretty sure many people are going to predict the inflation and try to make some profit off of it.
But I also wonder if there will be enough undercutters to cancel out the effect? I doubt it though, I still think the inflation will rise during the gil-sales.
Say tuned to find out what happens folks!
I invested in a couple things that will at least hold their value. If there's a spike I'll make some profit. If there's no big spike I should at least be no worse for the effort.
/shrug. We'll see what Christmas brings. I expect a small surge, but nothing like the insanity of last year.
