Rerailed because I saw someone with these today. Nice gentleman, was JP but explained that he got them from a ??? Gloves from the level 7 Periqia Assault. That would be "Defuse the Threat." They're rare/ex, so I can't see him lying about it for profit.

Parade Gorget and Goblin Drink can both be sold on the AH, and people knowing the secret of how to get them vastly devalues both in terms in how much gil you can get someone to pay for them.

Assuming he told the truth, this is an item you get by appraising ??? Gloves and being incredibly lucky. More people knowing doesn't close off a route for him to make money.

This isn't to say he can't be lying, of course. But it's not at all the same as Parade Gorget. In the absence of a compelling reason to lie, I'd be willing to trust him.

I'm still not seeing a compelling reason to lie here. You're claiming they wanted to keep it rare. If the Goblin Drink recipe were known, Parade Gorget would be significantly less rare (and it is. I see a lot of PLDs with it now.) Again, assuming that the guy wasn't lying, how would this make it significantly less rare? People have to get to Sergeant Major, spam a less popular Assault, and hope to god they get ??? Gloves that don't get appraised as crap.

And why assume that all JP players want to keep something rare and unattainable?

For that matter, apart from the fact that I asked someone who had them equipped and you're suspicious of his motives, what's actually wrong with the info I've presented? You're attacking the source, but have done nothing to discredit the actual info. Maybe if you do the Assault several times and show that ??? Gloves don't drop there or something... but would it hurt to check?

Thanks, Kelv. PS2, so I can't get screenshots of equipment, else I would've. Glad you thought to. But yeah, that's the guy I spoke with. He was pretty polite given that someone was asking him about it from out of nowhere, and he communicated very clearly.

I'm just saying your reasoning behind them not lieing is not all that solid. JPs have shown a track record of trying to keep items rare. I'm not saying it dosen't come from that particular assult, because it probly does, but it being rare/ex means nothing as far as you being told the truth.

It's true. I made the comment thinking "It's not something he can directly auction off, so it's less likely that he would have lied." There are still other reasons he might have lied, you're right. When I made the post (and even now, actually), I just didn't see those reasons as being particularly compelling. So in the absence of any other evidence, I'll trust the info. If other evidence comes along to disprove this, though, feel free to point and laugh at me or something.

Also, one of the other folks in my static, Cyferis, tells me that JP folks are shouting for that Assault all the time. It looks like a fun one from the description, too. If it's not a particularly good one to spam for points, maybe they're going for gauntlets? I don't know how many points it's worth if you can defuse most of the mines successfully.

it is not an idea. it dropped for my pickup assault group. the leader decided to buy it off everyone for 200k per head

By chance would you happen to know how the buff/debuffs effect mages in that assualt? I have only been able to find how they effect melee.
