Oh hey, my thread got linked. I feel awesome now.

I'm not saying there isn't a difference, I'm saying the difference is so small it doesn't really matter enough to sweat over it, especially when there are people out there wearing full relic gear sets and refusing to eat food still.
When you'd rather have 30k/hr than 25k/hr, it makes a difference. I don't know that many people who'd be willing to settle for less because of a few misplaced gear choices.
I'm not talking about one piece of gear, obviously. But people who question things like that asking, "What's the difference," are the types who take shortcuts in more than one place, eventually gimping a party's performance significantly.
Well, I've still yet to understand what the difference between these two pieces are seeing as how 2 different websites are doing 2 different math calculations :/
It doesn't help when MDenham says stuff like...
which casts doubt over everything he's calculated. I don't browse Alla so much any more (largely 'cos I can access BG at work, but to get on Alla I have to play with settings to get any access at all which is a PITA), but I know MDenham has put his foot in it several times before with regards to math. Remember that huge series of posts he made comparing different GA set-ups under different situations, most of which were terribly unrealistic (less than 50% acc no food? Capped acc and then using sushi? my memory is a bit hazy though) and his maths and basic premise was torn apart, leading him to nuke the thread. It really hurts his credibility. That's the 0.99% at the beginning... but seriously, DoT being only half your damage, and no treatment of the STR's effect on WSes?
The difference between Askar and Turban is not obvious without busting out math formulas. I personally am not going to bust anyone on anything that is this close to being equal. Some people actually play this game without researching math forumlas to try to upgrade their damage .005%, because that would turn the game into a chore too much and isn't worth it. I'm not going to bust anyone for that. And if you think those are the choices causing you to go from 30k/hr to 25k/hr, you are just an idiot.
Askar vs Turban is not going to make a damn difference that anyone could tell outside of a very, very small upgrade in a computer parse. Your xp/hr is not going to be noticable and it sure as hell isn't going to be anywhere as you claim it to be.
The main thing I've always found lolworthy about Askar Head is how annoying it is to get vs. turban. Turban is practically handed to you on your way to 75, while Askar Head usually involves spamming floor 100 runs, often with pickups who can be complete fucktards and ruin the runs.
People spam 100 runs, wasting hours a week to try to get Askar Head under this misguided belief that it's way better than turban. They could be using those tags to try to rank up for Perdu, or using that time to try for other more useful gear, or do ENMs/make monies for better gear off the AH. But at the end of the day, if that's how they wanna spend their time in-game, it's not like I'm gonna suffer from it. So whatever, let them enjoy their hard-earned nipple caps I guess.
Yeah, its definitly not worth the effor, unless you just enjoy doing Nyzul.
When something boils down to luck (Nyzul) Vs. Gradual progression (W.Turban/Imp.Standing) its going to be different for person to person about which one is easier to get.
Some people are going to go 1/1 on 100 Headpiece and still have only 10,000 imperial Standing, others will have 75,000IS and go 0/20+ On the Head armor.
not a lot of effort to be had in a dumb-luck system like Nyzul Isle. :<
Eh you can just buy the coins. There really is no valid excuse for not having a W. Turban.
While it's not exactly Alla, it's just as god-awfully bad:
Paladin: Moving Fortress, by Itikuo - FFXIclopedia, the Final Fantasy XI wiki - Characters, items, jobs, and more
I couldn't even start to name all of the things that are wrong with this. Was looking at a bunch of the "guides" on otherwiki, to get a couple of laughs, but this is just god-awful.
I don't know why, but this was the thing that put me over from just finding it amusingly horrible to laughing.Bard: Good for one thing and one thing only. Mage's Ballad and Power Leveling
