I was gonna post that Kudos thread. To anyone who may not know, there's a guy named Reij on Alla who is a complete roleplayer. This is his sig:

The main point of FFXI is the storyline, not the storyless 'endgame' stuff.
We are adventurers, not HNM campers.
Do quests and missions for the story, not for the rewards.

He makes various posts about how you shouldn't play a certain way or do certain events because they don't follow the values of his world, or just don't have any storyline, for example using PLD/NIN or doing anything involved with endgame.

The only people who take him seriously are people who have no idea who he is.

He found a way to use a NIN sub though, it involved some crap about his char going to norg and learning the ninja ways.
He also chose a knightly earring because it's more paladin-esque, and thinks NIN is "dishonourable" because you dodge attacks.

hey foustian, i never said that everyone should follow my playstyle. i'm just saying that i CHOOSE not to do any endgame activity because they dont offer the one thing i want in an MMORPG which is STORYLINE (except dynamis). The only endgame i'm interested in doing is Dynamis because it has a pretty good storyline. the other endgame such as limbus, sky, sea or whatever dont interest me because THEY DON'T ADVANCE THE STORYLINE. All you do in those event is kill stuff and get items. I don't care how good the stats are but NO STORY = NOT INTERESTED. fighting tough monsters and getting great items are not why I play MMORPG and i will not participate in that kind of endgame unless it has storyline.

and yes, i chose not to unlock nin on my elvaan character because my elvaan is a devout follower of the church of altana and he will only unlock jobs that relates to sandoria (PLD RDM WHM and DRG). every job i level up has a storyline added to the character (including WAR to 37). to me, this is how mmorpg is meant to be played. if you disagree, fine by me. go play however you want to play. it's your $12.95, it's my $12.95

Hi! I'm Reij. I play Final Fantasy XI. I will not tell you which server I play because of the unpopularity of my playstyle. I will not have people sending me abusive tells while I'm enjoying the game. I play this game for one reason only: to roleplay my character throughout the magnificent storyline of Final Fantasy XI. I don't play the game for equipment, endgames or becoming powerful. I choose equipment not based on stats but based on how it fits the personality of my character.

I have 3 characters. an Elvaan Paladin, a Tarutaru Black Mage and a Hume Warrior. I roleplay them all and everything they do in the game is within their characters. There are some things that they won't do, there are some equipment that they won't use even if the stats are beneficial and there are some quests they will and will not do (this includes job flag quests). If you can't understand this than that's too bad, because it's fun for me. To me, there's no point in playing an MMORPG if you're not going to roleplay your character and follow the storyline.

Do you seriously believe this crap that you're spewing? Every job has a storyline associated with it, using your own argument how can they be excluded? Furthermore, where in the story does it say that the jobs based out of Bastok and Windurst don't follow the religious storyline in the game? THERE'S MISSIONARIES IN THOSE TOWNS, THEY COUNT TOO OMG!
