The current Black Belt system is like doing this IRL:

Say you go to a martial arts school of some sort, and you work for your belts, but the very last one, the instructor says:

"To earn your Black Belt, you need to win the Lottery."

That's.... not much of a test of skill, now is it? I don't think you'd have much respect for your teacher much after that, would you?

It just doesn't matter how much skill you have as a martial artist, getting a Black Belt all comes down to:

1). Luck. Luck. Luck.
2). How much ass you can kiss.
3). Whether or not you condone/are willing to cheating with tools.
4). How good your Linkshell is.

Nowhere in there does your personal skill factor into the mess. The most nab MNK out there can have a Black Belt, while the best skilled one has no chance of obtaining one. That's just bullsh*t IMO.

So FFXI should evaluate your skill as a martial artist by sitting down in front of a screen and clicking keys with your fingers. k got it.

Players ask for CHALLENGING solo methods to get the black belt items. You say "that's too easy, any noob can do it." So not only are you deliberately misunderstanding the request, you also know jack sh*t about monks. Well, guess what, the mnk job is capable of a lot more than most other jobs, so the challenge bar can be set a lot higher than for other people. Why don't YOU try solo'ing the ENM50 with your hardcore leet gear and full salvage set? (Because if you don't have a full salvage set, that means your social skills and linkshell sucks, you know that, right?) Why don't YOU try to solo the mamool ja NM for the quest "Finding Faults"? Were YOU able to solo the lvl 30 promyvion runs to the spire before the nerf?

....... WHAT?! You could solo promyvions pre-nerf and you can wear Salvage gear at 50?!

ONE piece of top-of-the-line gear. A Black Belt by itself does not a top-of-the-line gear set make. Fore everything else we have to go through the same things other jobs do; often for even longer, because MNKs are rarely first in line for anything that isn't used primarily for chi-blasting.

MNKs are useless in endgame and only used for chi blasting. By the way, that's a great time machine you've got there.

In reference to the Purple Belt quest

1). Two NMs that pop from rare-spawning, and fairly highly-camped Rams.

That's funny, a few days ago, I went to get some ram skins/horns for skillups, and both NMs were sitting there with no one anywhere nearby.
