I'd post on BG if the layout wasn't as broad.

Not this is offensive or anything, but I don't understand it. BG has the simplest layout of any FFXI site.

He has a hueg Devotion setup.

It's not as if I've gone out of my way to make that setup. Yes I'm carrying a lot more gear about but it doesn't cost much to get a similar setup at all. I just don't see why you wouldn't want to max out an ability you put hard earned merits into. Unless of course, you're lazy

From his equip list I see 10 items that have no purpose other than to further Devotion. I'm usually 53/60 on my walmart WHM so I'd really love to know where he's gimping himself to carry all that stuff. Especially since he carries all 8 ele staves...

He's WHM75 and BLM 52, and doesn't know how staves work. He also thought staves affect barspells.

But I'm not sure about the Light Staff in Flash macro. Why exactly use this one? I'm not saying you are wrong.... I just want to know why Light over Water for Flash? I know that each staff has a hidden effect of +10% bonus to corresponding elemental spells. But does this kick in for Flash? ....You say the hidden effect works only for offensive spells. Again I'm not saying you are wrong. But by "offensive" could it mean on damage only (where you can easily see the bonus)? Of course Flash does not cause any damage.

He's in my LS, not for terribly long, but long enough I reckon. He's a good guy and WHM really, levelled WHM after his BST, and got tossed into the deep end of WHM HNM'ing without much acclimatisation time. He's adapted, still learning, but really nothing to complain about. He's really open to advice and suggestions, he's not the usual pig-headed zam thickie, I assure you. I wish I could be more helpful for him, but I have to refer him to others usually, as I'm not very very informed on the more advanced magey bits.

Also: I always argue about BG - AK with him, he likes AK and thinks BG have too many rude/mean people, I like it here much better.
