From NIN forum to BRD, Alla is a great resource and has great people. I've tried some of the other FFXI forums and it's like people want to bite your face off if you don't have eight 75s and/or 10,000 posts.

Alla's job-specific forums are, imo, probably the best ffxi forums out there for someone wanting to learn and improve. Even the sarcastic bastards are helpful in their own way.

I don't see anything wrong with that. New players who wanna learn are better off going to Alla/KI because of the various guides (even though some are beyond outdated) and stickies.

I can't speak for the other job forums because I don't really bother with them, but the NIN forum has mostly escaped Allatardation and is a good source of info. Most of the folks who post advice there are also posting here.

It was great back then, but none of the guides were ever really updated, and we gained a lot of bandwagon morons in the time between the RNG nerf and the SAM buffga.

I have a lolFood selection guide on that forum, and I haven't looked at it in years.

And if getting decent runes requires doing like 15 runs a day, at 200g a pop for a year, you're looking at 1,095,000 gil. Half that is probably what you could expect of an average enthusiast, though. sh*t still adds up, and @#%^ trading in that many bat wings on top of other in-game expenses. People want to play this game, not farm gil just to play the game.
