Meh, Event Horizon had a lot of potential, and was very atmospheric for a bit, but then it just totally lost it for me further in...

I know a lot of people disagree, but I thought The Grudge was pretty damned freaky. The Grudge 2, on the other hand... don't even bother. >.>

Really good ones. A few good movies told before, just thinking of The Last House on the Left too.

The Hills Have Eyes 2005 was pretty decent too, even if it wasn't really scary but it depends how you take horror movies usually.

The first 3 Return of the Living Dead are pretty cool too, especially part 3 if you want more serious stuff, part 1 & 2 if you like funny horror movies. And Dead Alive if you want even more hilarious gorefest. :D

Oh, I just remembered another good one. It's a Japanese live-action movie called Audition. It's creepy as hell.

I wouldn't say the original Dawn of the Dead was all that scary though. It just didn't have that feeling of creepy scariness to it.
