I use alla alot, because unlike Somepage people discuss NMs and Quests, and they do not allow gilselleing banners at all, obviously you jumped the bandwagon of the haters and just think you saw those ads.

However, this is very true. I would use somepage, but often quest info is very limited in the details whereas alla has a lot of discussion so you can get a better idea of what's required.

Allah got its start by copying japanese sites. Most sites did, but Allah just sucked at it. So many rumors were started on that site because of how retardly it was handled. Nowadays, its just not the best place to find info. FFXIclopedia or somepage for database stuff, forums for new update stuff. And its full of noobs. Hardcore noobs.

If you want to argue your point, Here's a better way of doing it:

GOOD: Think of it lke Phillip Morris/Altria Group. If you hate smoking, you could argue that buying Miracle Whip gives the money to the same people as Malboro. They created a "parent company" so that it was a different name, and used that label to purchase things, Doesn't mean that the individual products are bad or directly supporting the same cause.

BAD: You are a bandwagon of haters and I'm coming in here to tell you that there is inteligent discussion on Allakhazam that has led to many well accepted theories. (as opposed to random people spewing writ diarrhea across the forums)

They are distinctly ropey on attributions and copyrights. Or at least they were, right back at the start. I stopped contributing when I realised that they were in breach of their own license terms, and then deleted the license terms when I pointed it out.

Probably nothing will come of it, but you aren't actually allowed, by law, to do that.

A lot of the stuff posted to somepage.com is copy-pasted, verbatim, from .dat scans. The rest is copy-pasted, verbatim, from mysterytour.

Almost all of the information on mysterytour is copy-pasted, verbatim, from a machine translation of the Japanse eLeMeN database, which is supported by wikis of its own and a running forum.

Everyone steals. But it's general information and this 'borrowing' of information about MMOs has been going on since there was such a thing as MMOs. Calling ffxiclopedia out on plagiarism is kind of silly. If an honest-to-goodness original author really has a problem with it they can get their stuff removed. Only to be replaced later with idential but somewhat differently-worded information later. Circle of life.

I do like to visit the alla page for a given quest if I feel additional information might be useful, because it's nice to read if someone has posted "Hey, I soloed this as BST/BRD/whatever at level blah, and this is what happened." I don't really see that sort of thing elsewhere, for the most part.

The main forum, though, is just scary (along with many of the others, but it's the scariest). I threw off a Slashdot addiction for this? Eeeargh.

A lot of the time ill use somepage's database to look up quests...(related to items, af's, job unlock, etc) then ill lookup the quest on alla because somepage never has good walkthroughs.... Alla can be usefull as a resource, but it definately has its shortcommings. The most useful thing about alla is their forums for every single quest/topic/etc; although, 95% of the posts in said forum are hardcore nubz

The advantage FFXIclopedia has, like any Wiki site, is that the data can be updated whenever and by whomever chooses to add something. Somepage is a gread DB style site (I find Alla's servers just too damn slow and the ub3r n00berz sickening), but it can take quite a while for information to be updated.

What surprised me is no KillingIfrit link. Looks like they're even lower than FFXIOnline.com
