Hey! That's enough out of you, Mr. Free Warp Cudgel. Now go shine my axes and maybe I will accidentally make a Scission skillchain for you.Originally Posted by spooky

Our membership has somewhat stabilized now at around 36 members. I believe we can field about 40 members if *everyone* comes. Our leader usually attempts to make two self sustaining alliances with each alliance calling their own mobs. Each alliance has (on a good day) two melee PT and 1 tank PT. But usually it ends up around 2 PTs for both alliances. Its unfortunate that we lack thieves. Our drop rate is horrendous.
We have a consistent 6 blms that come. We have 3 others that come occasionally with maybe 3 more that can swap into blms. If we have people swapping into blms, it means less melee to beat down on the mobs. All but two blms go /whm or /rdm. A taru and myself (when I"m asked to go blm) go /nin. I'm usually the initial Sleepga2 person which after the rest of the blms kill off the stones help me out. The blms are usually PT'd wtih the leader who is also the puller.
I have a question...
Do mobs die faster having 1 main tank PT (2 tanks, 2 whms, rdm, brd) doing all the tanking for the whole LS? Or is it faster splitting the LS into equal alliances?
This topic has recently come into discussion with my own Dynamis LS and after reading everything in these past few threads its pretty obvious both subs are viable but they have different purposes. In my opinion, a blm/nin becomes a root dd with a secondary job as a sleeper as rdms are usually the main sleepers in our ls. The challenge I gave out was to have a blm/nin with a bard or rdm to refresh them to parse the overall damage difference with another War/nin or mnk with bard support. If the blm would out dd a war/nin I would allow more blms to sub nin in dynamis which we dont really allow currently, unfortunatly I dont have a working parser. To sum it up imo, a blm/nin becomes demoted to a moot DD level when he/she subs nin, but when he subs whm or rdm the possibilities open tremendously for flexibility.
PS. I have 2x BLM 75 characters one of which I regularly play in dynamis and I never feel the need to sub nin. I think bards who sub nin to pull in xp are retards toounless they are trying to tank
If they could nuke at all with the lag from not filtering damage that's gotta deserve subbing what they want. What a nightmare......The challenge I gave out was to have a blm/nin with a bard or rdm to refresh them to parse the overall damage difference with another War/nin or mnk with bard support.
Utsusemi = damage mitigationOriginally Posted by Uubu
Puller taking less (no) damage = more mp to cure melee, haste, pick nose
More mp = higher chain, faster exp
Faster exp = good
BRD/NIN = win
Also has the added bonus of being able to 'tank' pulled mobs for a time to hold them for the party.
edit> actually read your fucking post... jesus christ.
The whole point of subbing NIN isn't to become some uber fucking DD, it's to not be a mp drain on people. This can also be accomplished by not nuke and run tactics as /WHM or /RDM. Both work, for the same reason, just accomplish it a little differently.
This is just my opinion but i think any brd that subs nin is stupid. If you get hit alot /whm you just suck. That extra curaga 2 helps the party more than the shadows IMO.Originally Posted by Linsivi
lets not derail the thread, its about blm/nin's just let gjallhorn bard who doesnt know how to sleep sub nin and let him be
Lol right...
I dunno about you, but I like to pull a lot of things. Usually 4-5 mobs every time I run out. This results in higher exp per hour. My ability to sleep mobs has nothing to do with preventing damage taken. Stoneskin from a whm sub is pitiful at best, blink is unreliable. /NIN > /WHM for most exp situations.
im an advocate of brd/nin and /nin in general, but i think youre an idiot if you think nin > whm most of the time. Sure nin is great when you have reliable mages doing status removal, curing, etc- but the majority of the time youre better served being able to pick up other peoples slack with magic. Also- the damage mitigation with nin sub is only important on mobs that hit for significant damage (mainly skoffins) or move at a higher rate of speed... If you need utsu for mamools or puks you suck, sorry.
Guess I just play it differently you, and I never said it was a necessity. Like I said, I pull a lot of mobs at the same time, where /NIN has serious advantages. Places like Mire, I will sub WHM where Silena, Cures, and such are more beneficial. Then again, I mostly exp in 2 bard parties so... yeh.
In double BRD parties, one should always sub NIN for pulling and have the other handle status removal etc with /WHM.
BRD BRD COR RDM WAR THF for the win...
i only /nin in 2 bard parties.
Puks also move at a higher rate of speed. +25%, I believe, since they catch me without much trouble in Striders.Originally Posted by Ravenlokk
Ravenlokk got a good point. As RDM, when you pt with 4 melees and a BRD, or 3 melees and 2 BRD's, you're more than happy to have someone help on -na or -na himself and throw Curagas at PT.
BRD/NIN on anything that doesnt flee+hits hard sucks. And don't tell us Sea puks hits hard. Get a fucking pulling macro stackin def/hp/vit.
When im BRD'ing puks hit for like 50 damage... Not really enough to justify breaking chains on skoffins because everyone gets paralyzed.Originally Posted by jibini
And, yea Rosen im with you there, i much prefer when the brds /whm- because then the rdm can /blm to sleepga the horde of mobs they pull because horde lullaby is shit compared to sleepga. If theres competition, /pld aint bad either to lolFlash pops and piss off the competition- or flash(15-20 second recast lol) skoffins during/after fang rush (or any shadow stripping move). Auto-refresh is a nice bonus too. I like to think outside the box :\... Sj's selection is ALWAYS situational and it depends on who youre playing with, what youre fighting, and a bunch of other factors. Anyone who makes the argument "X > Y, youre a noob" will never meet their full potential because they are stuck looking at a job with a narrowminded paradigm.
