Is IE7 a full-blown browser now? Before I just used it as a small window to search one site that loaded quickly or programs wouldn't accept anything but IE as the default browser. I don't want to upgrade unless it's still a small browser that will open/close quickly and doesn't hog cpu. =\

i used to use firefox religious, but i like ie7 so much better. alot less memory leaks and the tabbing is just as good. i just dislike IE's favorites system.

I'm a long time Opera fan, I reccomend firefox too just because i dislike IE, the only thing IE is good for is ytmnd!(which i suppose is enough to justify its existance) Tabbed browsing is win, and being able to save a session and have the same windows open up whenever you open up opera owns, wigdets are kinda nifty and opera's BT client sorta sucks but I like the way it handles RSS feeds and mail and such.

I never understood why people like browser tabs, alt-tabbing is superior.

i'm not sure what it is in firefox, but in opera you can use CTRL-TAB to tab through windows, 1-2 keys also do too ^^ infact you can do that in most progams to tab through windows like word and excel i'm sure.

Undoing closed tabs in the state that you closed them in. I accidentally closed the tab when I was working on the last update, right clicked the tab bar and selected "undo tab" and got all of my work back.

Second, native spell check. Now you get little red lines under unfamiliar words to remind you that even on the Internets spelling counts!

When you use Ctrl+Tab in Opera, a little window pops up in the middle of your screen showing tab order.

On my main computer, I used to use IE6 and I've upgraded to IE7. I've used Firefox 1.5 on an older computer I have since it seemed to perform better for that machine.

For IE6 to IE7
What I like:
- Tabbed Browsing
- Integrated searchbox without needing to download one
- Ability to have tabs reopened next time IE loads

What I dislike:
- Loss of some customizability in the layout. I used to have the browser buttons in the top left, menu on the same line in the top right, and address bar beneath that. Now, there doesn't appear to be a way to move the address bar around or many of the buttons. (assuming I havent overlooked some way to do this)


In any case, it functions well enough for my needs.

Oh yeah, also love the restore session on crash feature, so nice if you're doing something long and tedious and your cpu decides to bomb..

Any addons that move the close button to the far right like the older firefox versions? When I have several tabs open and I click on one, I usually close it by mistake because the X doesn't scale down.

I use IE 7 and firefox at work, one thing I like about firefox that IE 7 doesn't offer is how far superior the find function is in FF. The quick keying of text and highlighting while you're typing is much easier.

Also FF use of right click -> copy link location is another thing I like about FF that you have to open an object in IE and copy what you want from the properties. Also, I have tons of problems with how IE just decides to error out on random Java enabled pages, IE cbs.sportsline.com (can't seem to check my fantasy team at all in IE without it crashing)

IE seems to have a better use of memory though, it seems to run smoother. I mean right now with 12 tabs open, IE is only using 114k of ram, which isn't bad seeing the rest of the programs I have open at current time, and outlook we all know rapes a system of its ram / processor.

I'm trying to give it a fair test see how I like it, but as of now, FF is still way superior in my book, the extensions alone make it worth it, especially ad-block and session saver.

See, I never have any problems with firefox and mem leaks... Maybe because I do all my music harvesting/browsing/photoshop on my laptop, which never gets touched by games, idk

Type in about:config

Look for browser.tabs.closeButtons

Change the value to 3.
