[img]This story is about an idea, its about a conflict and it involves the world, not just a few kids. The sheer number of polics and involves players in this struggle gives this a very "LOTR, everyone must get involved in this conflict" feel to it. Which I love. Politics, war, tragedy, conflict, world participation,
I havent even gotten into the gameplay and why I love it as well.

Im sorry but we knew there was war and tragedy since first hour we played FFXII and you will finish the game with this idea too without much changes

i dont freaking mind an big story and amazing about wars and tragedy aslong it doesnt take 30min to get the whole story from start to the end of it

the story doesn't develop and end like the start of it promises, and that's a spoiler.. up to about 80% of the story (basically before they decide to invade bahamut) it's a good--no, great--story about a world conflict, but then it runs short and let a couple of "kids" save the day... and i believe that's the work of the new director who tries to round things up, because again like i said previously the original director left because his story was getting too big and SE didn't want to spend any more money on it or let the fans wait another 3 years. fortunately, in a way the new director transits where the old director left off to his own story quite nicely, so if you are not really paying that close of attention to it you shouldn't notice it at all

Whats the point of averge storyline up to the 80% of the game with only 15% decent story its a final fantasy game suppose to be the standard for every other rpg game i said only 15% was decent becouse in my eyes the ending kinda the last 5% but it just ruined everything it was so bad

First of all FFXI does have a great storys its not only about questing but people like you who only camp dragon aery dont know that i guess

All core/expansion missions clear, hero fame everywhere it's possible and AF quests for 6 different jobs done. I've seen more of FFXI's story than you have.

But guess what, I'm actually kind of done with the 'story' of FFXI and all that's left had better be fun or I'd have quit a year ago. My point in bringing up FFXI is that there are things to do after you're finished questing. FFXI is a deep game with lots to do besides the story and if you don't enjoy that then quit the game and move on with your life.

FFXII is similarly rich with 'stuff to do' once you've cleared everything up to the final boss. The 'NM' system gives people looking to pimp out their characters a shitload to do and such gameplay has been a staple of the FF series regardless of story quality for as long as I can remember. What you are bitching about is that the story didn't meet your standards, but your blanket assertion in the topic of this useless thread is that this game 'fails.'

There are many ways in which a game can fail. Financially, this game is not going to fail. Critically, this game has not failed, it's getting positive reviews from most users of this board and from the media. Which leaves Artistically, which covers your main gripe about the story and its characters. But every FF game since the series was created had unsubtle failures in their storylines. By way of example FFVII and FFVIII had probably the worst endings I've ever seen outside of a fighting game. VII: 'What? Why are only Red XIII and his kids on the screen? Did Midgard get destroyed or what, it's just overgrown with weeds and some shit.' VIII: "Wait what? After killing Ultimecia suddenly everybody's at the school prom? wtf how did they escape?"

If after those two games you're still buying FFXII and publicly bitching about the ending only words to describe you, sir, are "self-centered masochist."

FFXII's story is modeled in the usual world of Ivalice, which has a tradition of being structured like a period drama. Parallel stories are woven and events do not exactly occur in continuous time. While Vaan and his companions sally about, dragged around by the ties Ashe has to the Empire, a greater tumult is being chronicled as war changes the world around them. This is pretty much the same structure we saw in Final Fantasy Tactics, so it is by that story's standard that this game should be judged, not the 'zomg Aeris dies!' buildup-climax-denouement we're used to seeing in 'canonical' FF games (which hasn't been done properly since the days of the SNES, btw). That you don't like the manner in which the story is told does not make the story itself fail. And it doesn't give you license to provoke a board created out of a love for the game by saying in your original post 'This game fail' [sic] and proceeding with a baffling series of attacks on people who disagree with you 'lolgalka' and utterly wrong assumptions about people who try to engage you beyond your egregious mangling of my mother tongue.

You didn't like the game, fine. But I don't remember this forum category being 'pls review the game.' Instead of getting 'ZAMMED' you're going to get banished to GameFAQs.

I like the game. I like the way in which the story, battles and miscellaneous hunts are presented. I find the graphics, music and cinematography of the game to be a true followup to the standards set for the PS2 by FFX, and all in all, I'm satisfied with my purchase. I don't think it's the best FF game ever made but I strongly disagree with the idea that it fails.

2 things for the record. I haven't finished the game so my reply is based on 55% gameplay completion.

2nd. Raq dude, please for the love of god use a spell check toolbar or run your posts through word. If your going to argue a point any further in any thread write out responses that dont distract us from your point. Also, that galka joke got old in ur first use of it.
