Ok I just got back from this. First off, all showings, sold out. I actually had to buy tickets off a guy scalping them LOL. apparently they wouldnt let his kids in.

Sure enough, ID at the door to get tickets, and at the screen before you could sit down. I sat near the door and they had cops doing ID checks and blocking the entrance from kids coming in LOL.

This movie........... I dont see HOW you could make it any more offensive, sick, FUCKING HILARIOUS. I have to say one thing. He doesnt break character, once, ever. Its classic. Some situations are simply unbelievable.

At the most obscene part of the movie the cop standing by the entrance goes "FUCK THIS SHIT" and walked out the door until the scene was over. The crowd was ROLLING at the scene for 10min straight. It blew my minds, seriously. I mean you see a lot of shit online... but this in the theatre was crazy. Its pretty bad when the movie is so funny visually that you dont mind the deafening laughter. It doesnt let up either. Even in Borat's lowest point in the movie he ::::Minor joke spoiler::: he throws his bag down in frustration and you hear the chicken hes been carrying around clucks violently XD.

I have to say, you must see this. I can see where people wont find this funny, but I got into this movie, and loved it. I guess it was my fascination over the fact he doesnt break character and the reactions of the real people not in on it are so.... .real... and hilarious. Especially with the politicians and interest groups he interviews.

Too bad Sony decided to cut the number of screens from 2000+ to 900 last week. So alot of people (like me) aren't able to see it for awhile, even though my theater has been really good about showing alot more edgier fare than it used to (we actually got brokeback mountain, which considering that I live in a relatively small town in the South, is fucking amazing).

I saw it today and was really disappointed...I thought most of the funny parts were on the trailers, and that the movie itself didn't really have a point, and they could've made it much much much funnier.


Yeah I laughed at some points, but for the most part I was disappointed. Kinda sucks since I was so excited to see it.

It was like a 30 minute showing of jackass spread thinly over an hour and a half. The funny parts were a riot, but it was disappointing overall.

It needed more interviewing and real people, and less story of Borat wanting to meet Pamela Anderson/traveling. The premise of Borat is brilliant, and I think they didn't get it right. I wish I could say ...NOT!!11 to that, but :\ I can't.

I didn't even have high expectations, really. It just wasn't movie material on any level. It was like a bunch of shorts that belong on youtube more than it belongs in a theater: funny, but not worth the time and money.

The Ali-G character got old quick, he has some really good skits but its not much compared to Borat or the gay german reporter guy. Iono, if you have seen the dating service skit, its really his best work:

well someone native to pakistan would find borat offensive probably since he's completely making fun of their culture and exaggerating his difficulty with the english language. so it all depends on your point of view. for native english speakers, borat would be most funny.

also, its of little importance that Cohen is British. i mean, sure he's funny as Borat, but there's plenty of american stand up comics and radio personalities who are more entertaining even in unscripted scenarios. he's Jewish also, so you could say that Jewish humor > all bc of his background. all im saying is look at it from every angle.
