I really didnt know who this guy was and didnt have any expectations other then it being Jackass 3. I remember seeing Ali G a few times and not liking it at all.

Too bad Sony decided to cut the number of screens from 2000+ to 900 last week.

Even with this drastic (and stupid) reduction in theaters showing it:

"Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan," took in $26.4 million during its opening weekend, according to studio estimates Sunday.

"Borat" played in only 837 theaters, fewer than one-fourth the count for "The Santa Clause 3" and "Flushed Away." Averaging a whopping $31,511 a theater, "Borat" easily outdistanced "The Santa Clause 3," which averaged $5,784 in 3,458 cinemas and "Flushed Away," which averaged $5,152 in 3,707 theaters.

$31,000 per screen is a ridiculous opening take for something in that many theaters.

well someone native to pakistan would find borat offensive probably since he's completely making fun of their culture and exaggerating his difficulty with the english language. so it all depends on your point of view.

I think that everything in the movie was real, except the part with Pamela Anderson. For example, all the interviews, and when he was talking to the black people, and going to the people's houses, they didn't know he was an actor...but with Pamela Lee, there is NO fucking way he could get away with something like that.

Not sure how they managed to not get arrested at the part with the hotel either.

There was a blurb in the Washington Post style section on page 3 in the "Reliable Source" column on Friday. It was about the car dealership salesman, he is from the Washington D.C. metro area. He wasn't in on anything he really thought Borat was a guy from Kazakhstan and he feels like he had one put over on him (and that's why he didn't make a fuss about it, he didn't want to draw more attention to it). I'll find a link later.

I read an Entertainment magazine on the movie and it lead me to believe, that even the Pam scene was real. They said there were many occasions they seriously were about to get into deep trouble with the law. The hilarious part of the article was that his crew broke character to explain everything while he remained as Borat no matter what.

You must not have fucked around with a hotel or it's staff before. In everything that i have ever been involved with the cops have only been called once and no one was arrested. Everyone just walked away and went to another floor, the cops did follow, but did get bored and evetually left w/o making any arrests. I used to have pics of the damage caused (mass graffiti, mass extinguishers fired off, random items in hallways and rooms destroyed), but i seem to have lost them. It was at a Days Inn in Cincy.

thats badass i totaly agree with the whole "original" aspect. While I watched the movie I laughed my ass off the whole entire time, but i couldent help but notice that there were people there not even smiling. It just kinda freaked me out. Sure this movie crosses the line, and goes past it with a 10 foot pole, but to not even smile just seems unhuman to me. Theres a point when you just have to let your morals go and have fun, with entertainment/art.

I really cannot see how all the politicians and religious people signed it. The "pussy magnet" scene was gut wrenching funny. The drivers ed guy and the car salesman owned.
