Why wouldn't a journalist have clearence to re-enter? Ya, what if the country doesn't let me back in after a vacation? They will. They wouldn't just randomly say "fuck you, you cannot enter" without some sort of OVERWHELMING EVIDENCE that you will do harm to this country. Each and everytime we tried to come back to the US the border would pull us over and we've have to spend an hour while they looked at each of my dad's documents proving he was a US citizen. Keep in mind this was before 9/11 even happened.

This bill would just make situations like that even worse imo.

It's funny that we get criticized for the way we police our borders, yet we have the greatest amount of organized business and ethnic interest groups lobbying for expansive immigration legislation, yet countries like france:

So yeah, our policies for people entering and leaving our coountry have to be significantly more strict to not only protect ourselves from potential terrorism, but to ease the strain on an already huge problem of illegal immigration.

And I said this happened before 9/11. Now he doesn't leave the country at all, except once for an emergency. So he should live in fear in the country that was a dream because of where he's from? He's over 70 years old and has been here for almost 50 years. It's a bit extreme if you ask me.

the INS always let me have some questions. They got the special registration stuff that waste your time for waiting for 2-3hrs after arrive airport, and registered your info into their database by a few of officer who don't know how to type properly. And yet, everytime you reenter US, you had to went through all this shit again and again.

don't say this for mid east only. I from asia region, and I also seen european got into this kind of shit... the most curious was, since i have been re-registered into their database for at least 5 times, how I still need to regiester everytime I enter US.
