Elder wyrm was fun, didn't even have to use any quickenings. The fight was only 10minutes long i think (from save > fight > save) and only had one death, put vaan on berserk and then 2 spores almost back to back.Originally Posted by Skyylya

Only time i needed to do that was on the first demon wall, since that everything has been easy. The reason i used 2 > 2> 2 was because my controller is a little messed up (its from the PS2 laucnh) and sometimes square and x dont react and i mess up my chains, i've never had catyclysm ; ;
Anyone killed Antlion yet? I tried him yesterday @Lv42, was really close fight. but @3%ish HP or so he did something that make him attack non stop, I tried casting reverse on the chars but it didnt last long enough![]()
out of 7ish(maybe?) other small mobs around, I've managed to kill 6, and he cannibalize the last one.
I did him at like 46 i think.
Trick for me was just isolating him, and trying to kill the little ones as fast as possible. Antlion alone wasn't hard at all, antlion +5 mantis bashing you in could turn bad really fast. All i have to say is Bubble, bubble, bubble. Basch had something like 7k hp for me when i did that which i couldn't have won without i don't think.
I just fought Bomb King last night. What a douchebag -.-
Is there any way to prevent him from using Renew constantly, or do you just have to hope you kill him before he uses it? (I did beat him eventually by using Quickening, just wanna know if you can prevent Renew without using Immobolize)
Sooo... I'm getting absolutely owned by Elder Wyrm. Don't want to resort to quickenings. Any tips for this fight? Party is around level 31.
man, cuchulain gave me a loooot of trouble.
Just cast Warp to get rid of all the little mobs around antlion. You don't get any exp, but they just go away and dont come back. Antlion himself isn't very hard, especially if you're level 42. I did it at like 34 or so, I just fought it normally.Originally Posted by SamanosukeShiva

And for people who don't want to resort to quickening combos to kill stuff, the higher hunt/esper mobs pretty much require you to do so. It's not even really that cheap to do it since 1, it takes all your mp anyway so it's only used as a finishing move, and 2, usually they get really hard at the end, or in some cases time runs out so you want to do the rest of the damage by stopping time. Quickening combos don't really even do that much damage in comparison to the DoT your characters normally do at higher levels, it's pretty much only used as spike damage while they can't touch you. It's quite advantageous to use quickening combos to your advantage. I used to think it was cheap to use them, but realized that some fights are just pretty much impossible unless you either use the combos, or grind so much that your chars are so overpowered that you can kill the boss in 3 seconds. I killed the first demon wall in KRT when my chars were almost level 40 in less than 10 seconds without using a quickening combo, but that's not really an accomplishment since the mob isn't very high level. Anyway, use quickening combos if you need to. I personally didn't use them vs Elder Wyrm, and I was around 30-33.
Set up Esuna Gambits, Stona/Golden Needle Gambits, and good healing gambits.Originally Posted by Revenant2
I did it with 1 DD/Tank and 2 Healers, took awhile, but worked out, used a Quickening around 10% when he started attacking faster.
cast zerk on 2 DD's and control the healer yourself lol, i killed it very quickly that way.Originally Posted by Toralyn
I was lazy and skipped buying a lot of spells until sometime after Elder Wyrm because I relied more on melee damage....and yet I skipped Berserk, meh. So yeah, I was lazy and skipped a ton of spells.
I killed him in mid-30s, it wasn't really that bad. I have sort of a FFXI mindset when dealing with most fights like this thoughOriginally Posted by SamanosukeShiva
. Killed all the adds I could without aggroing the Antlion, so there were only 3 left alive, plus the Antlion himself. Rebuffed everyone, cast Decoy and Bubble on Vaan and ran in with him on lead so everything would target him, spammed Curaga on him with Balth so he'd live through all 4 mobs pounding on him while Fran slept everything else, one by one.
Then I just had everyone attack each one of the sleeping adds till they were all dead while the Antilon went for Vaan's Decoy. It still managed to cannibalize one of them, but it wasn't too bad, just made him hit a little harder, nothing unbearable with Bubble+Curaga. After that I just had Vaan face away from everyone else and keep hitting it and recasting Bubble/Decoy/Protect/Regen every time they wore off, with Balth doing regular hits and Fran alternating between hitting it, using Curaga (which healed all of Vaan's Bubbled-HP when she had Faith up) and keeping it slowed. Took a little while but eventually it got to low HP. As soon as it went into "rage mode", I popped an ether and finished it with a quickening chain.
Keeping it slowed makes it a lot easier to tank
I had Slow on him like the entire fight, then it wears when hes at like 10%....he goes into rage mode, absolutely going crazy, im spamming slow on him and couldnt stick it on him for the life of me, almost caused my death, had to do a couple quickenings and use ether just to finish him.
Anyone beat Carrot? (lol). Rank 7 mark, doubles his level at 50% and hits me for 5000. I dont have that kind of hp![]()
Get that reserve party in for a quickening as soon as you see him double his lvl. Need maybe a 8 chain if that and he will die.Originally Posted by Revenant2
Soonest one can beat Flowering Cactoid? I tried at level 5 and had to zone it - couldn't land a hit... went back at level 6 with some extra magic and spammed Fire/kited it around. I got it really low on health, and then it 1-shot me with 1000 Needles. -_-
I beat him at 48 or something, was a cake fight, key to most of it, or any mob that does Breath attack, have your tank face it away from the other 2 people, one person gets hit with all the crap, easily take it off with Gambits set up for it.Originally Posted by Revenant2
I zerged him so much he didnt double his level til about 20%, was a close fight after that, was hitting me for about 3000 a pop, finally pulled it together, got a mist chain off and did 30k to him, 15 hit chain. Before he doubles his level though i found him a joke..
Pretty much same thing I did. As soon as it doubles it's level, pop a quickening chain and kill it. It wasn't really giving me any trouble at all till then, so everyone pretty much had 2/3 mist gauges by then, didn't even have to switch parties =x (although my second party is like 15 levels behind so I'd probably be screwed if I had to <_< )
Totally beat that at like level 35ish with no quickenings.Originally Posted by Revenant2
