At the end of the day humans and dolphins are both animals with above average intelligence. Shit... some humans aren't as smart as dolphins. You don't see lion eating lion, even if they probably taste just as good as their prey. Cannibalism is retarded, and almost no species hunt each other. There is certain case (like mother eating its kids >_>), but its usually for different reason than getting food. You compare human's intelligence to dolphin's, but it's still nowhere near the same in term of brain power. I could use your argument for cows, pigs and most animal. Not quite as intelligent as a dolphin or monkey, but still intelligent enough to feel pain, recognize stuff and resolve certain thing. Are we going to stop eating them cause of that? No.

Beside, if you want to place human on the same level as animal, you should know hunting in the nature between different animal species is also barbaric. Ever seen a lion kill an antilope? People chose those methods of hunting because it's the efficient way to get the food, just like any species will choose efficient method of hunting.

It's simple. People felt terrible for the kitten because it was an innocent defenseless baby. We don't see videos of woman in heels stepping on human baby's heads, or we'd be talking about that instead. We hear about shit on the news and see explosions but we don't see people with their throats cut convulsing on the ground. You can't compare how we view each, because we DON'T see this kind of shit happen to humans. If we heard "Explosion of the coast of japan, many dolphins killed" we'd be like "Well that sucks" just like "Explosion in Baghdad, many civilians killed." we say "Well that sucks." But this is a video of cruel treatment to animals, when we see videos of humans like this(not at all as much as we do animal videos), we freak out too(hello beheading video).

We all obviously have differing opinions on animals. I've always liked dolphins, they're gentle animals, they don't hurt humans, and they're smart. You may see them as just another animal to put on your plate, but I don't.

If you are equal to animal, then laws of nature also applies to you, and eating/hunting other species is perfectly fine. We just happen to be at the top of the ladder in term of power, so suck for other, but we will eat them just like a lion eat everything he hunts.

Dolphins (and ponies and puppies and kittens) are cute and cuddly animals, so we have more sympathy for them. As long as that's the crux of your argument, it's fine. Trying to claim that one animal or another deserves not to be hunted or killed because its more sentient or intelligent or something is a bit less feasable, partly because our entire concepts of sentience and intelligence are based on comparison to humans.

Problem is that you put dolphin and kitten on the same level as human, but cow and pig on a level much lower. Wtf is wrong with you? The only logic behind that is that kitten and dolphin are cuter than cow and pigs, and enjoy to play with human more. in other word, it's fine for us to eat ugly animal, but don't touch the cute one.
