Yup. Now, it would be that L2 goldbuying carries some serious money, due to the fact that most of Korea plays it, but I doubt banning any IP's not coming from Japan, the UK, the USA or whatnot would stop the big RMT farms. You would see a lot of the causal RMT's die, the ones who are really three collage drop outs in hong kong running 12 characters and some smaller ops, but there's too much money in it.

Plus as we've all seen, when RMT's get a kick in the nuts, NA's and JP's are happy as hell to fill in the gaps. NA rmt's would be even worse then the chinese ones, as a large number of chinese RMT don't know how to play still. NA's and JPN rmt can kill more shit, faster, better and most of em have the perfect characters for it. Then there's those bitter people who want to quit anyway and are sitting on 2-3-400 million and up, when gil value skyrockets, they are the first to run to IGE and it's sister sites, get their 1-3k and laugh saying "SO LONG BITCHES I GOT PAID!"

SE needs to fix hacks first for those RMT's and 'legit' players who use em. Then they can deal with RMT behavior at large, but you want to know the ''real' fix for RMTs?

Rare/ex more shit. Lots more shit. Put the e-penis stuff on HNM's and if RMT's try to cockblock, throw em in jail. Stick em behind BCNM's and heck you can make it so that a craftable item at the end via abjs or something ends up rare/ex so you don't totaly fuck over crafters.

Rare/ex is the only way you can save this game once you fix bots/hacking.

So where is this task force?

(I'm from Carbuncle, the server where RMT killed Jorm/Tiamat back to back; that group was banned but this is about the up and coming group that's apparently taking the old ones place)

Last Friday my LS was scheduled to do 2-3 Kirins, we head up to sky, blah blah, there's RMT fighting it. Our leader cancels the event since the RMT are taking so long to kill, ended up taking them 6-7hours to kill 1 Kirin. Lvl71-73 BLM's casting Firaga w/ dark staffs ftw? ...

Our next sky day was today, and we go up again and the same RMT groups are there fighting Kirin again so we called a GM. GM supposedly comes to the kirin room to watch and says they are doing damage to it so he can't do anything. I was like huh? Normal players don't take 5-6 hours to kill Kirin to which he replied .... "Well Kirin is a very very tough monster". It was clear GM's have no power when he said that, but fuck, how can they just let groups like these run rampant? When are we supposed to see the effects of this task force?

    11/06 - SE's anti-RMT 'Special Task Force'

You guys should have taken Kirin from them.

We tried at the first one. We waited until it used it's first astral flow but it didn't even go unclaimed despite so many deaths, so everyone just left. During the second RMT incident, tiamat popped so we went to that.

If SE is unable (read: unwilling) to simply mass ban the obvious gilfarmer accounts could they at least hold a massive involuntary migration? Take all the farmer accounts and their connected banks, crafters, and fishbots from half the current servers and dump them on a brand new server. I say from half the current servers because I'm sure all the farmers from all the servers would overload a single new server, as frightening as that is.

Anyway, after about a day, when they realize there are 10 times as many people that look exactly like them at all their hotspots and theres nobody to buy their gil on this server, they'll just cancel their accounts, and you can then take the farmers from the other half (or third, or fourth, or however you need to partition it) off the other servers and repeat. Then just keep relocating new groups that pop up.

Its not like they can make much of a case against it. The accounts are on 24/7 and they're always grouped with the exact same people (and never anyone else) so they'll have all their friends to play with. They'll just have more people who share their interests. Interests in King Arthro, Simurgh, LoO, and pretty much all of Kuftal Tunnel.

Just think of the fun you could have naming the new server - like Purgatory, TheReservation, Australia or AsuraTwo. You could even customize the opening message to say Ni hao. It would be beutiful. And be sure to stake a GM on that server to take pics of the crowds in Jugner Forest, Sky, and Onzozo on the first day so the rest of us can root for our home-server heroes in their epic quests to beat all the other farmers.

I don't mean to troll, but i couldnt disagree more. I can deal with waiting at Fafnir and having 100-200 people bot the shit out of it. I can't deal with 5 RMT playing 18 characters at Ulli. Sky on my server is pretty much shut down because no one can get stones. We tried camping against them, there is no chance of pulling against them. Rare/ex gear is great... if there are means of getting it. Rare/Ex shit also fucks over non-RMT trying to make money and crafters. Back to Ulli. People flat out can't get Byakko's without buying them from RMT. It's way more frustrating to me than sitting in DA for 3 hours trying to pull against 3 other Linkshells.

The real fix for RMT is simple. Anyone with an ounce of common sense can spot a RMT. I mean the Ulli alliance. All of them have weak ass gears. All the BLM are taru same look, same gear, same stupid names, and they all cast at the exact same time. SE just needs to take an authoritarian approach and ban them. If they try and complain, too bad. Making more Rare/EX gear won't get RMT out of sky.

As for NA RMT. Only NA i have ever seen that RMT are just people who sell their stuff when they quit. That's even close to being the same as people whose existence and sole purpise is to sell gil.

I've taken to checking all the RMT present at Ulli, and instantly calling a GM if they have the stone in Bazaar for sale. Botting and RMTing require a lot of proof and work, but NM Monopolisation, which is directly against the TOS, is a lot easier to investigate, has a lot more immediate proof, and gets more GM attention than after-the-fact GM calls post-claim.

He could be right. The kind of money that you can make from RMTing is a pathetic pittance to NA/EU players. You can make so much more flipping burgers for 8 hours a day than you could possibly make gilfarming in FFXI.

You do realize that S-E defines "monopolizing" a monster as holding the spawn for long periods of time without killing it, not killing it repeatedly?

They can keep killing Ulli till hell freezes over, as long as they don't- by the rules as they are now.

you should go right back to Zam if you honestly think that there is an equal contingent of NA RMT as chinese RMT.

Yes, I'm omw back there right now... but I felt I should point out that you are a flippin idiot.

No where in my "argument" did I state that "there is an equal contingent of NA RMT as chinese RMT."
I'm simply pointing out that the world doesn't stop turning because you don't "see" it.

In my opinion, banning accounts started on Chinese IPs, would not solve the rmt problem in FFXI. Like WoW, they would find a way around it. There are just as many rmt in WoW as there have ever been... though they get grieved a lot more in WoW than S-E would allow in FFXI. As such, worrying about which part of the world RMT are from is a waste of time.

If S-E addressed the things that RMT directly exploit within the game's system it would have a more permanent and positive effect on our gaming experience.

    GMs are like the cops
    ToS is the law
The dev's and paper pushers are the lawyers/judges (Sage Sundi: "I dont know")

Cops are somewhat familiar with the laws and interpet in their way when they enforce them. Each cop can have a different interpritation of said laws to a certain degree.
The devs and paper pushers have the final word on those laws though...

Only difference in FFXI is that we can only deal with the asshole cops... we dont have the right to remain silent and we dont have the right to an attorney.

One asshole cop tells you one thing and you follow what he says then another douche bag cop comes along tells you something different and you are fucked twice w/out dinner and a movie.

Maybe I don't see it because it doesn't exist or is barely liminal.
Just because i dont see it doesnt MAKE it exist either.

And my point was the ammount of NA RMT (if any) was blown way out of proportion by whoever posted earlier.

There is a difference between people whose sole purpose in the game is the sell gil for money and people who play the game regularly and sell gil when they have the opportunity. Like after people quit for WoW, then they sell the equipment that their friends helped them to get and their linkshell bought for them, even though they used to hate companies like IGE, but they turn around and do the same damn thing because they are filthy hypocrites. But you know, I'm not talking about anyone in specific, like someone that I used to consider my friend who turned around and stabbed his/her former friends in the back, then months later logged back on saying how he missed everyone, then the next day sold his character. Nope, definitely no one specific...
