Well I don't know if I'm just special or what, but I usually find that when a Bar-status spell is complimented with it's Bar-element spell, the resist rate is very notable. In Dynamis-Bastok, I toss on all my Enhancing Magic and cast Barstone + Barpetrify and usually have about a 75% resist rate on Breakga. The same applies in Dynamis-Jeuno with Barparalyze and Barblizzard. In Dynamis-Windurst I pair up Barsilence+Baraero (And Zenith Crown +1) when fighting crows. I resisted 4/5 silences when everyone else got blasted with them.

The mobs I have troubles proving this theory against is Seiryu and Byakko (or any tigers). I use Barparalyze+Barblizzard and I don't think I've managed to resist their paralyze once. My only conclusion to this is that those abilities they are using are not ice elemental based.

As stated before, I strongly believe the spells need to be used in conjunction with their respective elements to make them really kick in. I have really seen positive results, mostly in dynamis, and would think it would be safe to assume that the ribbon would increase this rate of resistance.

Well, Krandor summed it up too well. Anything else I could add would be redundant.

I think this may be slightly off topic to what you're saying, but it may also prove somewhat useful. All added effects of an Enemy TP move that have a status effect, even if its only a status effect(Roar, vs let's say Leaf Dagger) cannot EVER override the same level of the status version on you. similar to how you can use poison pots on yourself back in the day to solo serket and avoid his super poison. If the status is not on you, you WILL get it, but if it's already on, it will not apply the TP move's version. The bars and such effect direct spells, since they stem from their elements, as such they are augmented by the staves etc.

They did, but not many uses them. Divine Seal is better to be saved for other stuff.

Thats correct, I do the same and in dynamis runs and normal mobs its quiet alot noticable, due to haveing lots of resists, or the status ailments wearing off after a couple seconds. On the other hand I didnt notice any status resists when doing barelement+ barstatus against the CoP wyrms. Kind of odd that one never resists the wing statusailment, which is strange :/. TP move statusailments almost never fail to stick, while magic castet ailments get quiet resist with the 2 buffs

so you're comparing the proc rate of status aliments from a lv75(I'm guessing) dynamis mob to a lv95 cop wyrm.

    ooook

Going back to the OP, if you're looking for more Killer Effect items, might want to check AH for a Tamer's Ring. They come up about once a month and sell for almost nothing, all Killer effects +3 with yellow HP latent. I have one lying around, never done any testing on it but it sure is cheaper than the ribbon. ^^

I doubt dynamis mobs are lvl 75. tough I have seen resists proc against paralyga from jormungand (not quiet as often as in dynamis but still noticable), Strangely never seen any resist on TP move ailmaints, like virus from Tiamat Wings with the correct barspells up, which to me seems kind of odd.

Not really aiding in this discussion persay but wearing a Barfire set for Tiamat gives you the ability to resist the Virus on the wings.

I would assume this applies to other Wyrms as well, but at least in regards to Ouryu our NIN/BRD from our last run wasn't able to resist any of the Slow effect from wings afaik
